Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 starts getting MIUI 9.2 update
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 skips the MIUI 9 and gets the MIUI 9.2 update with several enhancements.
The MIUI 9 Global ROM went official in November 2017 and most devices from Xiaomi have already started receiving the update. However, some devices from the company such as Redmi Note 3, Redmi 4A and Redmi 3S, and 3S Prime are yet to get the latest update. In the meantime, the company has started rolling out the MIUI 9.2 update. Some users of the Redmi Note 3 have also started getting the update still based on Android Marshmallow.
Even the official MIUI forum has posted the screenshots of the MIUI 9.2 update being rolled out to the Redmi Note 3 along with the official changelog that the update will bring to the device. This makes us believe that Xiaomi decided to skip the MIUI 9 update for this smartphone and move straight to MIUI 9.2. The latest update has the build MIUI 9.2.4.0.MHOMIEK and measures 290 MB in size.
From the screenshots posted by Xiaomi, we get to know that the update bring the January security patch to the smartphone. Also, it is a Nightly build that the company will roll out to random users in order to get feedback and then roll out the stable build if things work out well. We can expect the stable build to be out in the coming days.
The MIUI 9.2 update brings interactive and Fresh UI changes, Calendar Cards, Mi Video App, App Vault, Mi Drop, New Gallery App and New Mi Explorer to the Redmi Note 3. The company is also believed to enable the Split Screen feature on the smartphone that is common in Marshmallow-based devices.
Talking about the other highlights that the MIUI 9.2 update will rollout to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, the device will get an improved layout and readability for search results in Contacts, virus scans as well as payment scans merged into the Security scan, better blocklist rules with the ability of separated rules for each SIM card, battery saver will be turned on automatically when charged, the ability to search for apps in the Dual Apps setting, quick ball will go back to the edge if it is inactive for over 3 seconds, and more.
