Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 launched: Upgraded Note 3 with SD650 SoC, 16MP 4K capable camera
After having confirmed the launch of Redmi Note 3 in India, Xiaomi has now launched another version of the device in China. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is an improved version of the previously launched device with improvement mainly in the processor and the camera departments.
Incidentally the launch of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 may have been triggered by the company's desire to bring the all new metal clade Note 3 smartphones to India. For those unaware Xiaomi is banned from selling Mediatek powered smartphone in India according to an order by the Supreme Court which resulted in the company's sudden suspension of the Redmi Note 3G smartphones.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with an all metal unibody design and sports a 5.5 inch Full HD (1920x1080p) IPS display upfront. Under the hood the smartphone is now powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 Hexa Core SoC (previously referred to as Snapdragon 618) boasting of a two Cortex A72 cores clocked at 1.2GHz and four A53 cores at 1.8GHz. This is clubbed with the all new Adreno 510 GPU and 2GB (16GB storage)/3GB (32GB storage) of RAM. Just to recall the earlier Redmi Note 3 which was launched in China a few months back came with a Mediatek Helio X10 SoC on the inside.
Xiaomi has further incorporated an improved sensor at the back of the Redmi phablet, thereby justifying its Pro moniker. It now comes with an f/2.0 16MP rear camera with dual tone LED Flash. The best part is that the camera can now record 4K videos at 30fps as well as 1080p at 120fps. The 5MP Selfie Snapper capable of 1080p videos however remain the same.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes in Dark Grey, Silver and Champagne Gold colours and is priced at 999 Yuan i.e. roughly Rs 10,200 for the 2GB RAM/16GB storage variant. The Chinese brand however hasn't revealed the pricing of the 3GB variant yet. The new Redmi Note 3 will go on sale in China starting Jan 17. It is also expected to launch in India next month.
