Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is an all-round upgrade to the bestselling Redmi Note 4.
As expected, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has been launched in the country. The device is touted to be an all-around upgrade to the Redmi Note 4 with a great design, camera and quality. The smartphone features a full-screen design as it was rumored previously. The major upgrade is the display with a 5.99-inch display with reduced bezels at the top and bottom.
The device flaunts a model body and a premium looking design. It has tapered edges that make it smoother and curvier than the Redmi Note 4. The device is priced at Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 11,999 for the two variants. The company is also offering a free ultra-slim case to offer protection. Having said that, it is a great upgrade to the bestselling Redmi Note 4.
Design and Display

It is the thinnest Redmi Note device ever launched with an 8.05 mm thickness. The Redmi Note 5 bestows a 5.99-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and Gorilla Glass protection offering 12.5% more screen real estate. It comes in Black, Rose Gold, Light Blue, and Gold. The Redmi Note 5 has a dual pyrolytic graphite sheets for reduced temperature by 2 degrees.
Camera
The rear camera has been upgraded to have a 1.25 µm pixel lens to render brighter and crispier photos even in low-light performance than the previous generation models. The front camera has a LED flash light for better low-light selfie shots.
Hardware
The company retained the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC that was used by the Redmi Note 4 on the Redmi Note 5 as well. The base variant has 3GB RAM and 32GB storage space and the high-end variant has 4GB RAM and 64GB RAM.
Battery
Despite being the thinnest Redmi Note launched ever, this smartphone has the same 4000mAh battery that will give an impressive two-day battery life. The power adapter has been customized to withstand up to 38V.
Price and availability
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage is priced at Rs. 9,999 and the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage space is priced at Rs. 11,999.
The sale will debut on February 22 via both online and offline channels such as Flipkart, Mi.com, and Mi Home. The company has teamed up with Reliance Jio to give Rs. 2,200 cashback and 100% additional 4G data as well.
