Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 may be launched on February 14 according to new a leak
Up until now Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has been leaked on several occasions and the smartphone also recently received 3C certification in China.
Redmi Note 5 launch is still a mystery. While some say it will happen later this year, some reports have stated that Xiaomi will launch the device in February 2018. And now in a new development, the much-anticipated smartphone is speculated to be launched on February 14 in place of Redmi 5.
Up until now Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has been leaked on several occasions and the smartphone also recently received 3C certification in China. While we were on the lookout for the possible launch date and other details regarding the device a new evidence has been released on the internet. First spotted by Techook, the folks over there have found some details on the event page of Mi.com website.
A rundown of a JavaScript code managing the countdown timer on the official site has revealed a subdirectory titled 'redminote5'. The report also provided a screenshot of the handset's teaser with just the number '5', which seems to have been removed from the directory now. However, folks at NDTV have been able to verify the presence of the subdirectory with the JavaScript code. Furthermore, the meta description of the event page basically read "Presenting the all-rounder #GiveMe5."
Just to recall, Redmi Note 4 was launched during the presence of Indian cricket all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. So reports further say that the word "all rounder" within the meta description clearly suggests towards Redmi Note 4 successor.
However, the company is yet to confirm the details and we are also not ruling out the possibility of seeing several smartphones during the launch event. We will get to know everything next week.
In any case, if Redmi Note 5 is launched previous rumors and leaks have suggested that the smartphone will come with a full-screen 5.99-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) IPS LCD panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device is said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor which should be paired with either 3GB/ 4GB RAM and 32/ 64GB storage options. The smartphone will likely run on MIUI 9 but with Android 8.0 Oreo.
As for the cameras Redmi Note 5 is expected to be equipped with dual cameras comprising of 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. Upfront, it could sport an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording. The smartphone is also rumored to come with 4100mAh battery. Finally, the handset as per previous rumors is said to be priced around CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 15,400).
