Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro in India earlier this month. While the Redmi Note 5 was highly anticipated, the Redmi Note 5 Pro stole the limelight after the launch as the latter has better specifications. Most significantly, the Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a rear dual camera setup and it is touted as "India's camera beast" by the company.

Redmi Note 5 new variant with better cameras coming soon

Xiaomi is naturally expected to launch both the models in its home country. Well, Xiaomi's Head of Smartphone Product Market has made a post on Weibo, hinting that the Redmi Note 5 will arrive to China soon. His post also revealed an interesting piece of information. It seems like the Chinese variant of the Redmi Note 5 will feature better camera configurations than the one announced in India.

Just to recall, the Redmi Note 5 is equipped with a 12MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 1.25μm pixel lens to render brighter and crispier photos even in low-light performance than the previous generation models. The primary camera comes with features like PDAF and fast autofocus. At the front, there is an 8MP camera which is accompanied by an LED flash and Beauty 3.0 for taking better selfies in low-light conditions.

Since the Weibo post is kind of vague, we are sure what kind of changes Xiaomi will make to the Chinese variant of Redmi Note 5's camera. Hopefully, more details will emerge in the coming days.

As far as other specifications are concerned, the Redmi Note 5 sports a 5.99-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and Gorilla Glass protection. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. The base variant has 3GB RAM and 32GB storage space and the high-end variant has 4GB RAM and 64GB RAM.

Despite being so sleek, the handset is backed by a large 4,000mAh battery inside. On the software front, the Redmi Note 5 runs on Android Nougat with Xiaomi's own custom UI on top. Connectivity options on board include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, USB OTG, FM, 3G and 4G.

The smartphone is priced at Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 11,999 for the 3GB and 4GB variants respectively.
