Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Mi TV 4 launching today; watch the live stream
Xiaomi has not launched the Redmi Note 5 anywhere else, making the India launch the debut of the smartphone globally as well.
Xiaomi is expected to launch the Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Mi TV 4 today in India. The launch event will take place in New Delhi and it will kick start at 12 PM. As per the information we have obtained so far, the Redmi Note 5 will be exclusive to Flipkart, Mi.com. That said, the smartphone is likely to be available in Mi Home stores as well.
For those who won't be present at the launch event, you can watch the live stream of the launch from the video embedded below. We have a quite a fair idea of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 in terms of specifications. When it comes to the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the smartphone's entire specs sheet got leaked yesterday. Finally, the Mi TV 4 is already official in China so its specs and features are out in the open.
Redmi Note 5
To start with the Redmi Note 5, it is likely to be powered by a Snapdragon 625 chipset. In the memory department, the smartphone is said to offer 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage depending on the variant.
On the imaging front, the Redmi Note 5 is likely to feature a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera. The smartphone is also rumored to feature a large 4,000mAh battery and MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat.
Redmi Note 5 Pro
According to the leaked specs sheet, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro will come with a 5.99-inch FHD+ (2160X1080) resolution display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The display will further feature a 2.5D glass, rounded corners, and on-screen buttons.
Under the hood, Redmi Note 5 Pro will make use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 which is an octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. The chipset will be coupled with with 3GB/4GB/6GB RAM and 32/64GB native storage options.
As for the cameras, the Redmi Note 5 Pro will sport a dual camera setup at the rear and it will be a combination of 12MP + 5MP sensors with f/2.2 and f/2.0 aperture respectively. Up front, the smartphone will flaunt a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor along with an LED flash.
The phone will further run on MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat, and it will be backed by a 4,000mAh battery.
Mi TV 4
There are several things to notice in the Mi TV 4. It comes with the company's own TV software, namely, the Patch Wall, which is a deep learning AI that references metadata to make intelligent content recommendations tailored to you in any situation.
Measuring at just 4.9mm, the Mi TV 4 is touted be 30 percent thinner than the iPhone 7. It sports a borderless design and comes with 10 speakers integrated into the Mi TV bar along with two wireless rear satellite speakers, and a sleek subwoofer. It is also equipped with Dolby Atmos sound system, which offers a three-dimensional sound staging by spreading the sound to every corner.
The TV comes in three different display sizes, but we are doubtful that all the models will be made available to India. Interestingly, the Mi TV 4 is a modular TV. Since the TV's display is detachable, users can upgrade it in the future.
