Chinese smartphone makers have proven its full potential in launching new smartphones. This year the company has launched few decent phones like the Redmi Note 5 Pro the Redmi 5. While these smartphones offer much better options than the devices which are available in the same price bracket.
However, the company never managed to maintain enough stocks of these devices to fulfil the demands. The latest reports suggest that the company is all set to launch a new Redmi smartphone in the new S-series soon. It's expected that the device will be known as Redmi S2 and will come with entry-level specifications.
The report claims that this will be the company's most affordable smartphone, which sports a dual-camera setup. Let's see how the company will manage to come up with enough stock for the launch date of the new device.
Not surprisingly, the Redmi S2 comes with an HD+ display along with the aspect ratio of 18:9 and a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. For now, there is no information available on the screen size.
Under the hood, the phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, clubbed with 2Gb or 3GB RAM. The same chipset was used in the Redmi Note 4 and the Note 5 which were priced at Rs 10,000. The will come with a couple of storage option, which can be expanded with the help of microSD card. So far the details on the storage options are also not disclosed.
As far as cameras are concerned, the smartphone houses a dual-camera setup with a 12-megapixel primary sensor from Sony and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor from Samsung. On the front, the Redmi S2 sports a 5-megapixel front-facing single camera setup.
The cameras also support EIS and portrait mode on the device. However, there is no information available for the biometric sensor, the device is said to support face unlock.
The Redmi Mi S2 will be backed by a 3,080mAh non-removable battery, but it's not clear that company will add the fast charging support in the phone or not. The smartphone will run on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 out of the box.
The company will be targetting Indian and Chinese market with the new affordable camera-centric smartphone. There is no further information on the launch date, for that we still have to wait for official announcement.
