Xiaomi has already sent out media invites for an event to be hosted on February 14 in India. Initially, most of the people believed that Xiaomi would launch Redmi 5 in the country but recent reports have said the company will launch the Redmi Note 5 instead.
As the company is super secretive about its new device, it looks like the device will be exclusive to the e-commerce major Flipkart. Just a few days back, the company has confirmed that the upcoming Xiaomi device will be exclusive to it and has even set up a teaser page on its website.
While that was an interesting piece of information, Xiaomi has been teasing the launch of its upcoming smartphone with short videos and these videos have been interesting as the company has given hints about what to expect from this upcoming device. As such, the company has launched a new teaser and it confirms that the upcoming Redmi smartphone will come with a big screen which will have an 18:9 ratio and that it will be more vibrant with higher pixel density. The new teaser still doesn't talk about which device though.
However, previous rumors and leaks have suggested that Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will come with a full-screen design having 5.99-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) IPS LCD panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio. So this smartphone could well be Redmi Note 5. The teasers seem to be in line with the rumors and leaks that we have seen so far.
Having said that, previous rumors have also suggested that the device will likely be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor which should be paired with either 3GB/ 4GB RAM and 32/ 64GB storage options. The smartphone will most probably run on MIUI 9 but with Android 8.0 Oreo.
As for the cameras Redmi Note 5 is expected to be equipped with dual cameras comprising of 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. Upfront, it could sport an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording. The smartphone is also rumored to come with 4100mAh battery. Finally, the handset as per previous rumors is said to be priced around CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 15,400).
Meanwhile, the company is yet to confirm the details and we are also not ruling out the possibility of seeing several smartphones during the launch event. We will get to know everything next week.
