Xiaomi's Latest HyperOS 3 Update Adds New Gallery Tool, Fixes Notes, Recorder, and More: Here's Everything
Xiaomi has started rolling out a new HyperOS 3 update in China, bringing a collection of feature additions and bug fixes across some of its most-used system apps.
This isn't the kind of update that introduces a major redesign or a flashy AI feature. Instead, Xiaomi is focusing on polishing the software experience, fixing issues that users may encounter while editing photos, taking notes, recording meetings, managing family accounts, or simply using day-to-day system features.

Gallery Gets a New Film-Style Watermark Option
One of the few genuinely new additions in this update arrives in the Gallery app.
Xiaomi has added a half-frame film watermark feature inside the Gallery Editor. The idea appears to be giving photos a retro film-camera aesthetic by applying a fixed-layout watermark around the image.
It's a relatively small addition, but it reflects a broader trend among smartphone brands that are trying to bring more creative editing tools directly into their gallery apps rather than pushing users toward third-party editors.
The feature is available through Gallery Editor version 2.3.0.8.3 and later.
Xiaomi Has Fixed Several Frustrating Notes App Issues
The Notes app is receiving a longer list of fixes.
According to Xiaomi, the company has improved animation smoothness in various parts of the app, which should make navigation and transitions feel more responsive.
More importantly, Xiaomi has addressed a handful of bugs that could affect actual note-taking. These include instances where voice note recordings displayed incorrectly, note creation records occasionally disappeared, and certain note content failed to load properly.
For people who use Notes to store meeting points, reminders, or voice memos, these fixes are arguably more important than any visual refresh.
The improvements require Notes version 2.4.0.98 or newer on mobile devices and version 2.4.1.0 or later on PC.

Recorder Update Targets Voice-to-Text and Meeting Bugs
The Recorder app is also getting attention in this release.
One of the notable fixes addresses voice-to-text conversion failures. In some situations, recorded audio could not be transcribed correctly, limiting the usefulness of the feature for students, professionals, and anyone relying on automatic transcription.
Xiaomi has also fixed an issue where the recorder's floating window could briefly flash on screen, along with an abnormal call-ending animation that appeared in certain scenarios.
Another fix targets meeting workflows. According to the company, some users were unable to properly view linked projects after joining meetings through notifications. That issue has now been addressed.
These changes are rolling out through Recorder version 7.9.5.302 and above.
Family Guard Becomes Faster and Easier to Use
Family Guard, Xiaomi's family management and monitoring service, is receiving a combination of performance improvements and bug fixes.
Xiaomi says page loading speeds have been improved, which should make navigating the app feel quicker. The company has also fixed a bug that prevented family invitations from being sent successfully in some situations.
Another issue involved accessibility. Users who increased their system font size could sometimes encounter incomplete or improperly displayed content within Family Guard. Xiaomi says that problem has now been resolved.
The changes require Family Guard version 13.04.29.000 or newer.
Clock and Travel Assistant Receive Smaller Tweaks
The Clock app update may seem minor, but it addresses a couple of issues that could be noticeable for users who rely on alarms and timers.
Xiaomi has fixed a bug where the XiaoAI Wake-up Bell setting failed to work properly in certain situations. The company has also corrected display issues affecting the stopwatch interface.
Outside of the Clock app, Xiaomi has made an interesting change to Travel Assistant.
Previously, travel reminders focused primarily on train departures. With this update, the system can now extend reminders to boarding times as well, potentially giving travelers a more useful prompt before a trip.
Hyper Island and Screenshot Bugs Have Also Been Fixed
The update includes several smaller system-level fixes that don't fit neatly into a specific app category.
Xiaomi says it has resolved an issue where Hyper Island could continue appearing as unavailable even after users successfully added the feature through the notification bar.
The company has also fixed abnormal screenshot thumbnail behavior that could occur when users captured multiple screenshots in quick succession. Another fix targets email content that wasn't displaying correctly in certain situations.
When Will It Reach India?
At the moment, Xiaomi has only announced this update for users in China.
There's no word yet on when these changes will arrive on HyperOS 3 devices in India. Historically, Xiaomi tends to release updates in China first before expanding them to global markets over the following weeks or months.
