Xiaomi Rumored to Replace MIUI with MiOS: What We Know So Far

In recent developments, Xiaomi, the world's third-largest smartphone manufacturer, has set the tech world abuzz with speculations that it might be gearing up to replace its well-known MIUI (MI User Interface) with a new operating system called MiOS. While these rumors (via Digital Chat Station) have ignited curiosity, it's essential to tread cautiously until Xiaomi makes an official announcement.
Trademarking 'MiOS' and Developer Build Rumors
The speculation surrounding Xiaomi's potential shift from MIUI to MiOS stems from the company's trademark registration of 'MiOS' and the reservation of the domain 'mios.cn.' Additionally, a screenshot claimed to be from a MiOS developer build has surfaced online. However, the origin of this screenshot is uncertain, and authenticity remains a question.

Despite these developments, Xiaomi has not issued any official statements regarding such a transition. Moreover, some experts, like Kacper Skrzypek, who is well-versed in MIUI code, have dismissed the notion of MIUI 14 being the last iteration. Skrzypek has pointed out that Xiaomi has already incorporated codenames for MIUI 15 within its codebase.
Internal MIUI 15 Builds and Xiaomi's Future
Furthermore, Xiaomiui, a reliable source in the Xiaomi community, has revealed the existence of MIUI 15 builds uploaded to Xiaomi's servers. This indicates that Xiaomi is actively working on the next iteration of MIUI, suggesting that it may not be pivoting away from MIUI to MiOS.
While rumors have circulated regarding the potential transition, it appears that Xiaomi is quietly advancing MIUI 15 internally, possibly in preparation for its introduction alongside the Xiaomi 14 series, expected to debut before the year's end. As a result, it remains uncertain whether the company will abandon MIUI in favor of MiOS or simply continue refining its existing interface.
