Xiaomi Starts Rolling Out MIUI 11 Stable Update For Redmi 8, Redmi 8A in India

Xiaomi Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A have joined the list of the devices to receive the MIUI 11 software update. The new MIUI 11 software update for the Redmi 8A is of 544MB size and has the build number v11.0.1.PCPINXM. For the Redmi 8, the MIUI 11 comes with the build number v11.0.1.PCNINXM and has a size of 600MB.

The MIUI 11 is a massive software update for Xiaomi devices that brings several new features, visual enhancements and performance improvements. The MIUI 11 change log for the Redmi 8 and the Redmi 8A introduces new alarm ringtones inspired by the sounds of nature, new UI design optimized for full-screen displays, Mi Share- new file share system by Xiaomi, quick replies, floating calculator, updated Mi file manager, steps trackers, and more.

Notably, the company announced that the MIUI 11 update for the aforementioned devices will be rolled out on November 13, 2019; however, the software update has been pushed ahead of the schedule. Recently, the MIUI 11 software update was rolled out to Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A devices in India.

If you have a Xiaomi device, you can also check for the MIUI 11 update in the About > Software update section of your handset. We are currently testing the MIUI 11 on the Redmi K20 series handsets and are yet to receive the same on the Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A units.

As for the devices, we have reviewed the budget Redmi 8A last month. The smartphone sports a 6.22-inch 720p screen and features a 12MP rear camera but it now works on the Sony IMX363 sensor. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 Chipset, which is the company's first 12nm octa-core chipset. The 64-bit CPU uses 8x ARM Cortex A53 cores and is paired with 2GB/3GB RAM.

 

The Redmi 8 also flaunts a - 6.22-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen. The handset sports a 12MP + 2MP dual-lens rear camera setup. The 12MP primary camera works on a Sony IMX363 sensor. The handset is backed by the same octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset. As far as connectivity is concerned, the Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A offers a Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, AI face unlock, wireless FM radio, dual-SIM, dual VoLTE, GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.2, and Wi-Fi.
