Xiaomi Terminates Mi Max Series Says Redmi General Manager: Report
Back in June, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed that the company is planning to launch a new variant of its Mi Max series smartphone. However, it seems that the company is making a major change as it has been reported that Xiaomi is discontinuing the Mi Max series. Now, Redmi's General Manager Lu Weibing confirmed that Xiaomi is not going to launch any Mi Max series phone.
The company official didn't reveal why the company is discontinuing the series. The Max series was known for its huge display which goes up to 6.9-inch making it more of a phablet. The Mi Max smartphones were launch with big display with mid-range specifications and affordable pricing.
The information was revealed on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo. In a Q and A thread, a user posted a question seeking the release of a new Mi Max series smartphone. In response, the Redmi brand General Manager replied, "Will not have" (translated from Google).
The response clearly mentioned that the company has no plans to continue the series and there is no point of expecting a Max series phone from the brand. The last phone in the Max series lineup was the Mi Max 3 which was launched in July last year.
Earlier this year, Jun announced that the company is not focusing on an immediate launch of the successor of the Mi Max or the Mi Note series. Jun also indicated that the company might launch the phone within one and a half year. However, the company has launched the Mi Note 10 smartphone last month which is a rebranded model of the Mi CC9 Pro.
However, the launch of the Mi Note series is giving some hope that the company will launch the Mi Max 4 as the successor of the Max 3. But you can't ignore the fact that the brand's General Manager has made it very clear through his Weibo comments.
