Xiaomi to start selling smartphones in Africa by the end of Nov 2015
After having made a mark in the Asia market, Xiaomi is keen to expand to new horizons. The Chinese brand entered into US earlier this year with their range of accessories. But now it seems like the company is taking a leap forward by entering Africa.
Apparently Brazil was first country beyond Asia where Xiaomi started to sell their smartphone. The move happened earlier this year, just before the US entry. Hence an entry into Africa was always on the cards.

Xiaomi has partnered with Mobile In Africa (MIA) to take care of logistics, distribution, marketing, sales and support for their devices in the continent. MIA presently has in presence in 14 countries in the continent. However the Xiaomi made smartphone will initially go on sale in South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria.
"We see Africa as the next frontier for smartphone growth and we are excited to be partnering with MIA Group to offer consumers in these three countries our high-quality smartphones at amazing prices," said Xiaomi's Global Strategy Director Raymond Tian.
The Chinese brand will introduce their widely popular Redmi 2 and the Mi4 in their first round of entry into the continent. Expect the company to bring more devices along with their accessories subsequently.

Regarding the pricing the Redmi 2 and the Mi4 has been priced at $160 (Rs 10,400 approx) and $320 (Rs 20,800) respectively. This is markedly higher than the selling price in Asia, however that was expected considering the steep import and logistics costs.
