You Can Help in Designing and Launching a Special Edition Nothing Phone 2a: Here's How

Nothing recently launched a new initiative, the Community Edition Project, inviting global participants to contribute ideas for a new variant of the Nothing Phone 2a. This approach, a collaboration between the community and the Nothing team, marks a significant step towards involving the "community" in the development of future products or even operating systems.

Carl Pei, the founder and CEO of Nothing, highlighted this project as a potential gateway to community-driven development. The Phone 2a, which was introduced on March 5, has started receiving the Nothing OS 2.5.4 update, enhancing user experience.

Nothing Phone 2a Community Edition

Under the Community Edition Project, participants can submit their designs, wallpapers, and packaging ideas for the Phone 2a variant. The project is set to unfold over six months through four stages, starting with hardware design in March, followed by wallpaper and packaging designs in May and June, respectively. July will see submissions for marketing campaign ideas.

The company encourages submissions in any form – be it images, videos, or other media – through the Community Edition Project webpage. Following each stage's closure, selected ideas will go through a voting process open to all, with winners chosen by an internal panel at Nothing.

The Nothing Phone 2a is available in India starting at Rs. 23,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model. Other configurations include 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB, priced at Rs. 25,999 and Rs. 27,999, respectively. The device comes in both Black and White, powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC, and supports a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging. Its features include a 6.7-inch 120Hz full-HD+ AMOLED display, dual 50-megapixel rear cameras, and a 32-megapixel front camera.

In more news from Nothing, the London-based tech giant shared on X (formerly Twitter) that they're rolling out a new update, Nothing OS 2.5.4, for the Nothing Phone 2a. Users of Phone 2a can simply go to Settings > System > System Update to get the update. The company also explained what's new in this update: better color consistency for the rear camera, improvements in bokeh effect, smoother gaming performance (especially for BGMI), and some general improvements like smoother animations and bug fixes.
