Remember ZTE's Axon Mini smartphone that was launched back in July! The smartphone garnered attention for featuring the Force Touch display that we have lately also seen on the Apple iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, and Huawei Mate S. The Axon Mini was actually the first to bring a pressure sensitive display that could react differently to light, normal or heavy touch on display. Good part is that the smartphone is reportedly coming to India as well.
ZTE at an event revealed its plans to launch the flagship handsets in several countries, which include India as well. The company has launched the phone in China and will be making it available on its own MyZTE Store offline and on online retailers including JD.com.
Ahead of its China launch, the company will be taking the ZTE Axon Mini to several countries including India, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Russia, Japan, Australia, France, Germany, Turkey, Spain and Italy. In China the Axon Mini has been priced equivalent of Rs 23,500 (approximately), however its price may vary in India considering that the company's pricing of the phone will vary by country.
Taking a quick look at its specs, the Axon Mini flaunts a Boeing 787 aircraft-grade aluminum-titanium alloy body, and offers voice control, fingerprint scanning, and eye-scanning biometric verification options. It features a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080x1920 pixels resolution, and 2.5D curved glass. It is powered by a Snapdragon 616 octa-core chipset with Adreno 405 GPU and 3GB of RAM. There is 32GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD.
In the camera department, the phone had a 13MP rear camera with Phase Detection Auto Focus that can focus in just 0.1 second, and an 8MP front-facing camera. It runs on 2800mAh battery. The phone has been launched in Ion Gold, Chromium Silver, and Rose Gold colour variants.
Apart from the Axon Mini smartphone, ZTE's Axon Watch will also be up for sale on the MyZTE Store. The smartwatch has a 1.4-inch display with Gorilla Glass protection and sapphire coating. It runs on Tencent OS, and features 512MB of RAM with 4GB of storage.
The wearable is powered by a 300mAh battery, and supports Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity. It is water-resistant with IP67 certification, which mean it can be submerged up to 3.3 feet deep in water for up to 30 minutes.
Those of you who are eager to use the pressure sensitive display but either can't or don't want to spend a lot on buying iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, can wait for the ZTE Axon Mini to get launched in India. The phone will cost much lower than the price at which the iPhone 6S' will be made available in the country.
