2017 was not an eventful year for ZTE as the company had launched only a handful of smartphones. However, the Chinese OEM seems to have some big plans for this year. Last month, ZTE's Chief Executive Officer, Lixin Cheng announced that his company aims to launch smartphones with 5G support by the end of 2018. Leaving that aside, let's find out what the company is planning for the upcoming MWC.

According to a new report by Android Headlines, ZTE will unveil a budget smartphone at MWC 2018 later this month. Dubbed as Blade V9, the handset had appeared on the company's Spanish website in December last year. The smartphone has also been certified by FCC, hinting at an imminent launch. The latest report now confirms that the Blade V9 will be showcased at the world's largest exhibition for the mobile industry.

Let's see what this phone has to offer.

Design

Design

Talking about the design, the Blade V9 will be ZTE's first smartphone to feature a display with the aspect ratio of 18:9. The smartphone appears to sport a double sided glass design. The glass on the rear panel appears to be reflective like HTC's U lineup of smartphones. While the bezels around the display are narrow, the Blade V9 can't be called a bezel-less phone.

Especially, the top and bottom bezels are pretty prominent. The device doesn't feature a physical home button at the front and the fingerprint sensor is located at the back. In any case, the Blade V9 will be quite an improvement over its predecessor Blade V8, in terms of design.
