Nexus 5 Soon To Be History: 5 Reasons Why the LG-made Nexus is Still a Hit

By Anuj

The LG-made Nexus 5 will soon be a history. It featured a joyful 5-inch FHD display, and comes powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. In nutshell, the Nexus 5 was, and still is, a beast, and for many it would be tough to accept that Google will soon discontinue the device.

Apparently, Google has removed the red and white versions of the Nexus 5 from Google Play Store (US), leaving only back version on sale.

At the same time, Google told Tech Radar that Nexus 5 production has stopped when the publication asked the status of the white and red versions of the handset - currently, only the black model is available for purchase in the Play Store.

Later, a Google spokesperson said that customers should hurry and buy a new Nexus 5 as fast as possible. "Once they are gone, they're gone, so we'd suggest people get them while they can," Google said.

However, another spokesperson of Google told The Verge that the Nexus 5 will still be available to buy until at least the end of Q1 2015.

Back in India, Google Nexus 5 can be easily purchased via online shopping sites. Many of the top ecommerce sites in India are still selling the Nexus 5 for less. As part of the ongoing Google Online Shopping Festival (GOSF), Amazon has got the Nexus 5 (16GB) on sale for Rs. 24,299, which is a solid discount. It usually sells for Rs. 27,000.

Ceasing production of the Nexus 5 doesn't come as a huge shock as Google recently launched the Nexus 6 in the market. The Nexus 6, which recently went on sale in India, starts upwards of Rs. 43,999.

As expected, the Nexus 6 is massively improved over the Nexus 5. It comes with a huge 5.96-inch 2K display, a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB of native storage, 4G LTE, a 13MP camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, Android 5.0 Lollipop, and a huge 3,200mAh battery.
