For Nokia high-end Symbian running handsets are dead. But in the lower segment, the company is still the leader in many countries. Under Rs. 5,000, it is hard to beat Nokia due to broad range of handsets offered by the company.

Earlier this year at Mobile World Congress (MWC), Nokia announced 301: a budget S40 running handset. The phone looks like a regular Lumia device in terms of design and finish. Nokia says the 301 is an internet device with great in-built camera. The company tried to give Lumia like experience at an affordable price.
The Nokia 301 comes with a 3.5G connectivity, which gives you an option to browse internet anywhere. It's a decent device to browse internet - thanks to the built in Nokia Express Browser. You can stream videos through YouTube at faster speeds. The phone has a 3.2-mega pixel rear camera with essential features: Panorama, Self-portrait, amongst others.
It has a 2.4-inch display with resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. You won't 4GB of internal memory, but do find 64MB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD cards. The makers have added 1,200mAh Li Ion battery. On 2G connectivity, the phone can run up to 20 hours, while on 3G connectivity; expect 6 hours of talk time. Good news for app junkies, as the handset comes pre-loaded with YouTube, VuClip Videos, IM Apps, Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, Facebook, Twitter, Nokia Chat, and eBuddy IM like apps.
This dual SIM handset will cost you Rs. 5149 via Flipkart. As of now, Nokia is offering the 301 in three colors: Black, Magenta and Cyan. Stay tuned to GizBot.
Now Nokia has already set its weapon against Android brigade. The competition of Nokia 301 is primarily with Samsung Galaxy Star. Have a look!
The Galaxy Star comes with a 3-inch QVGA TFT display with resolution of 320 X 420 pixels. It packs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean mobile OS. Inside you will see a 1GHz processor coupled with 512MB of RAM. Along with 4GB of ROM which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD cards. In the imaging department, you will find a 2-mega pixel rear facing camera. Samsung Galaxy Star is a Dual SIM featured handset packing Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB 2.O and a 1,200mA battery inside. It is priced at Rs. 5,240.
If we compare the two devices than, naturally, Samsung Galaxy Star is better placed due to its internal specifications and an ability to run apps. What you say?
