Nokia 800 battery issue gets a fix
Just four months after the launch, the Finnish mobile makers faced issues with battery life for the Lumia 800. After the issue was detected, Nokia had introduced few firmware updates in an attempt to improve the battery life. The last firmware update did nothing else than dimming the display of the device.
The recently introduced update has brought tremendous improvement in the performance of the battery and has increased the battery life of Lumia 800. Reports from users say that the update has increased the battery life three fold.
Nokia has placed high hopes in Lumia series and is their way out to fight competition from Android devices. It is quite obvious that Nokia will go the extra mile to fix the issue as early as possible to prevent any negative feed back from the customers.
Nokia came across the issue when they started to observe comments from the some of the customers about the battery life in different social networking sites. The customers said that the diagnostics tool in the some of the phones indicated lower level of battery charge that what was expected.
The investigation undertaken by Nokia found out that there was no problem with the battery. The real problem was with the software, which they identified and if worked on could fix the problem easily. The software issue prevented the device from accessing the complete battery capacity.
The latest update 1600.2487.8107.12070 solved the issue with the battery life and the update is being introduced across the world. The update is said to have resulted in better sound quality in the device too. Even the performance of the camera is said to be improved now.
The operating system used in Nokia Lumia 800 is Windows Phone 7.5 Mango mobile. It uses a 1450 mAh battery which cannot be removed and it is said that the performance has become better after the update.
Nokia India said that the Lumia 800 smart phones in India will not be affected as the product has only recently started getting shipped to India. Since the company has identified the problem, the phones in India will be updated by the company before it is sold to the customers.
Nokia Lumia 800 is one of the best selling smart phones worldwide. Statistics from the UK shows that it holds the 8th position among the top 10 best selling phones. Similar statistics are coming from across Europe. The sales of the Lumia 800 has improved with the introduction of Lumia 710, a mid segment smart phone.
