Nokia April 24 Announcement: Something New Will Be New Asha Range or Lumia 928?

Nokia is planning to tease ‘something ‘extraordinary this coming Wednesday. In a straight forward manner, Nokia issued a message on Nokia Conversations "On Wednesday morning at 7am GMT we will be announcing something new, followed by a Q&A session with Neil Broadley from our Mobile Phones team and a special guest."

Wild guesses are swirling all around the tech gossip world. Some say, that the Finnish giant could announce the long rumored Lumia 928, a Verizon restricted variant of Nokia Lumia 920, at an upcoming event.

But at the same time, the tech mobile vendor has also thrown hints in the form of mysterious image. Going by the image, the design definitely not looks similar to the Nokia Lumia 920. But, it's too early to comment upon the device. Still whats the harm in playing the guess game?

Well, rumors also indicate that big changes are, Nokia might announce the updated colorful Asha lineup. Twitter sensation @evleaks leaked few images of the upcoming Asha handset earlier this month. It is said that the upcoming Nokia Asha handsets will be identical to Lumia range.

Expect complete revamp in terms of design, and freshly baked User Interface (UI), to be incorporated in the upcoming Nokia Asha handsets. Nokia Lumia handsets were lauded for bright and peppy colours. Also lately Nokia CEO, Stephen Elop hinted at refreshing the Asha line of phones in recent interviews.

Supporting the rumors, if observed, Nokia announced its last quarter results, where the sales of Lumia range were up from last quarter. But the company saw biggest fall to 5 million units from 9.3 million in regards to Asha range. So, there is scope for complete makeover.

The new Nokia Asha handsets are set to arrive with a 5-mega pixel rear camera, bigger display, changeable back covers, a home button underneath the screen and bold flashy colours. If the leak turns out to be authentic, the new Asha phones will come in three colors - green, red and yellow.

What About Nokia Lumia 928?

If Lumia 920 sees the light, the upcoming Nokia handset is expected to land with 4.5 inch OLED display with resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 8.7 MP rear camera (PureView , and a non-removable 2,000 mAh battery. In terms of design, it will be similar to what experience with the Lumia 920.

Further, the upcoming Nokia Lumia 928 arrives with 4G LTE built into it. In terms of design, expect polycarbonate shell to be used to make the cost under control.

But, if Nokia announces the updated Asha range on Wednesday then there is a fair chance to get closer in the coming days. Nokia has been kind on Indian audiences in terms of mid range and budget handsets, as the country is utmost prime for the Finnish giant.
