Nokia Asha range Released: The Only Hope For Budget Conscious Indian

Finnish phone maker Nokia has launched the new 'Asha' range of mobile phones in India recently. The latest range included three handsets for the budget-conscious Indian customers namely, Nokia Asha 305, Nokia Asha 306 and Nokia Asha 311.

All the three phones are competitively priced up to Rs 10,000 keeping in mind the low-end mobile phone customer base in India. Derived from the Hindi word for 'hope', Nokia believes that the new Asha range will connect the next billion mobile phone users by offering "the best overall experience and value proposition".

 

Mr D Shivakumar, the Senior Vice President of IMEA Nokia said in the company press release, “The Nokia Asha 305 and Nokia Asha 311 will provide the Indian Consumer with full touch capabilities at new price points.”

 

All the three devices will make use of S40 Asha operating system and will feature full-capacitive touchscreen display. Lets take a look at the major specs of the trio handsets.

Nokia Asha 305, dual SIM phone

Nokia Asha 305 dual SIM phone will target the high demand for Dual SIM phones market with which users can enjoy benefits of two carriers in a single device.

The Nokia phone will have all standard features for a common man like a 3 inch screen display with resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, a 2 mega pixel rear camera and a standard 1,110 mAh standard lithium-ion battery capable of having a total of 528 hours of standby time. The handsets will be available for users in three colours namely black, red and blue. Instant Messaging services supported by this phone include Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live Messenger.

Nokia Asha 306 with Resistive touch screen

Second in line of the Asha range of phones from Nokia is Nokia Asha 306. It has almost similar features as that of Nokia Asha 305. The only difference being the lack of Dual SIM functionality and presence of resistive touch screen instead of capacitive touch screen. It features a 3 inch WQVGA display with WLAN connectivity.

Nokia Asha 311 with 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity

Thirdly, Nokia has released Asha 311. It is reportedly going to be a compact touch screen device with advanced connectivity features such as Wi-Fi and 3.5G connectivity. One of the unique features of this phone is its 3 inch bright scratch resistant capacitive display with polarization filters.

Price

The Asha 305 is priced at Rs. 5,029 whereas the Asha 311 is priced at Rs. 7,139. The company is yet to confirm upon the price tag and availability of Asha 306.

Other Goodies

Nokia has also tied up with EA for these phones and will be offering 40 EA games to download for free (data charges will apply) and keep forever. These games include popular titles such as Tetris, Bejeweled, Need for Speed: The Run and FIFA 2012.
