Mobile World Congress 2013 swayed the tech world with the pre-event and the day 1 highlights, but one tech that has definitely rocked at the event is Nokia. The Finnish giant has taken up the budget model and has proved that the colorful Windows Phone 8 range can also be available at decent price points.

Lumia 520 and Lumia 720, the two handsets which saw the glamour at the MWC 2013 event in Barcelona on Monday have made it to the hearts of many Nokia fans. While the Lumia 620 India release is around the corner, the launch of Lumia 520 and Lumia 720 seem to have made the Lumia lineup of smartphones complete, as these should offer more Nokia WP8 smartphones at a wide range of price points at budget price tags.

Pricewise, Lumia 620, which Gizbot has been informed to hit the retail shelves in India in March is speculated to cost Rs 16,000 approximately. On the other hamd, the newly outed Lumia 520 is estimated to be priced at Rs 9,900 and Lumia 720 is estimated to cost Rs 18,000 approximately.

Apart from the pricing, what else is different between these smartphones? Of course, there are not too many differences, but some significant changes are made by the manufacturer among the trio of Lumia Windows Phone 8 lineup. Form Factor: Lumia 520 packs a dimension of 119.9 x 64 x 9.9 mm and weighs in at 124 grams, Lumia 620 boasts a dimension of 115.4 x 61.1 x 11 mm and weighs in at 127 grams and Lumia 720 carries a dimension of 127.9 x 67.5 x 9 mm and weighs around 128 grams. Eventually, all the three handsets have almost similar weight and a mere difference in thickness with Lumia 620 being the thickest.

Lumia 520 features a 4 inch mulit-touch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 233 ppi pixel density and scratch resistant glass.

At the same time, Lumia 620 packs a 3.8 inch multi-touch WVGA ClearBlack capacitive touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution and 246 ppi pixel density.

On the other hand, Lumia 720 houses a slightly larger 4.3 inch multi-touch ClearBlack capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, 217 ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection.

Obviously, Lumia 720 comes with a better display as it has ClearBlack display technology that reduces the reflections and improves sunlight legibility, larger screen and Gorilla Glass protection.

Processor: When it comes to processor, all the three handsets are powered by a 1GHz dual core Qualcomm MSM8227 Snapdragon S4 processor. The Snapdragon S4 chipset uses Krait processor and enables the devices to communicate quickly, efficiently and most importantly reduces the heat, thereby allowing the handsets to have enhanced battery life by reducing processing power wastage.

Operating System: In this segment, again, all the three - Lumia 520, Lumia 620 and Lumia 720 come loaded with Windows Phone 8 operating system with improved features like dynamic Live Tile Information, social network integration in the People hub, Skydrive and Office 365 documents synchronization, Facebook-events integrated calendar, visual voicemail, threaded email conversations support and more.

Camera: Both Lumia 520, 620 house a 5MP rear camera. However, minor difference seeps in, as Lumia 520 comes with autofocus and a lacks a front camera for video calling.

However, Lumia 620 is packed with an autofocus and LED flash along with a VGA front camera for video calling.

At the same time, Lumia 720 comes with a superior 6.7MP camera equipped with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus and LED flash and has a 1.3MP front camera capable of recording 720p videos.

Storage: In this segment, all the three smartphones come with 8GB internal storage, 512MB RAM and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 64GB additional storage, which should be sufficient to store all the files.

Connectivity: When it comes to data connectivity, Lumia 520, Lumia 620 and Lumia 720 come with decent connectivity features including dual band Wi-Fi, average 3G download speeds, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP and micro USB 2.0.
However, Lumia 620 and Lumia 720 score more with NFC connectivity for easier mobile payments.

Battery: While Lumia 520 has a 1,430 mAh battery delivering up to 360 hours backup, Lumia 620 comes with a 1,300 mAh battery offering 330 hours backup and Lumia 720 is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery with a greater backup of 520 hours.

Other Features: On the software side, all the three Lumia smartphones will come loaded with exclusive Nokia applications including Nokia Drive, Nokia CityLens, Nokia Maps and MixRadio. Also, being Windows Phone 8 based smartphones, these handsets will come with 7GB free SkyDrive storage.

Being based on the same version of the operating system, all the three smartphones might offer a similar user experience. However, they have distinguished features that will make them unique.

For those looking to own an entry level smartphones, Lumia 520 with pretty basic hardware and compromising a front camera should be a right one in the sub Rs 10,000 price range.

Lumia 620, which is to come to India soon is a good mid-range offering, however, Lumia 720 can be claimed as a better smartphone offering as it comes with a better display, improved camera performance and enhanced battery backup.
