Here comes Nokia Lumia 720 for all those who were tired of waiting for the mid-range Windows Phone 8 handset to hit India. Just like always, the handset has made its way into the online market before the retail availability. .
Hold your breath Lumia fans, as the handset has finally got listed on online retailer Flipkart for at a price of Rs 18,500, but it remains 'Out of Stock'. The highlighted part is, the Finnish giant has come up with a pre order offer, where a free Sandisk 16GB memory card will be offered on the purchase of WP8 smartphone.
When checked on Nokia e-store, Lumia 720 still holds a 'Coming Soon' status. A couple of weeks back, Nokia announced the launch of the third wave of Windows Phone 8 smartphones in India stating that the latter will be available in mid-April. Similarly, the Lumia 520 went on sale last week at Rs 10,499 adding more value to the online availability of Lumia 720.
Moreover, it was only in the last week that the Finnish vendor slashed the price of Lumia 820, the mid-range offering launched alongside Lumia 920. The Lumia 820 witnessed a major price drop of 17% costing Rs 23,969 approximately. It has to be noted that Lumia 620 is available in India at a lesser price of Rs 14,515 and hence, many might be thinking on what could be so different in Lumia 720.
To remind of specs, Lumia 720 sports a 4.3-inch Clear Black display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 1GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512MB RAM , 8GB internal storage, micro SD card slot supporting up to 64GB additional storage, 6.7MP rear shooter with Carl Zeiss optics, 1.3MP front camera, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 2,000 mAh battery.
At the same time, Lumia 620 boasts a 3.8 inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display, 1GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 512MB RAM, 8GB internal storage, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 1,300 mAh battery.
On the software side, Lumia 720 comes with software features including Nokia Music and a location suite feature called HERE, which includes all the exclusive Nokia apps including Drive, Transit and Maps, which are common to all the Lumia lineup smartphones including Lumia 620.
Lumia 720 comes with the Pureview camera technology as in Lumia 920 and hence it has camera features such as Smart Shoot, which captures multiple snaps allowing the users to select the best picture and Cinematograph for creating animated GIF files. Moreover, the handset also supports wireless charging, but for this users need to add a wireless charging cover.
