Budget phones have been on a roll since recent times and manufacturers are working by hook or crook to develop and bring new phones into the market. The under 10K category mobile category has been seeing the biggest growth in the Indian market and both premium players like Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Motorola etc and domestic players like Micromax, Maxx Mobiles, Videocon, Spice Mobiles etc have been busy preparing for new launches in this interesting and highly competitive segment.

Every manufacturer was trying to incorporate newer and more features into its handsets while keeping in mind the affordability of the device.

Today we deal with 2 Nokia budget criteria phones. The models on comparison are Nokia X2-01 and Nokia C3-01. Both are bar phones that are designed neatly with well laid out physical keypads.

But the Nokia C3-01 is a touch and type phone that has a 2.4 inch capacitive touch screen based display and also comes with a physical multi tap normal keypad. The Nokia X2-01 on the other hand has a physical QWERTY keypad with a normal 2.4 inch display screen.

The phones are both equipped with cameras but the C3-01 has the more powerful configuration of the two as it has a 5 Mega Pixel camera that offers stupendous clarity and image quality as compared to the meagre VGA camera of the Nokia X2-01. Both the cameras offer Video recording in VGA format. But on the camera specs front the former is C3-01 is once again the winner as it has an LED flash in addition to Autofocus and Digital zoom whereas the X2-01 only has Digital zoom.

The phones have support for the latest in multimedia audio and video formats like MP3, WAV, WMV and much more. They also have a 3.5 mm universal headphone jack and an FM Radio with RDS in common.

On the connectivity side the X2-01 is limited to only Bluetooth and USB PC connectivity whereas the C3-01 boasts of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and PC connectivity via USB. The Nokia C3-01 and Nokia X2-01 support 2G internet browsing and downloading via EDGE and GPRS but the C3-01 offer high speed 3G connectivity with speeds of upto 7Mbps.

The phone models are both capable of supporting external memory expansion via a micro SD slot but the C3-01 can support upto 32 GB of external memory in comparison to the only 16 GB of the X2-01.

Both the phones have support for Java and games.

Lets see the comparison of both Nokia X2-01 and Nokia C3-01 on the price front. The X2-01 does not offer much and is priced very low at Rs 3400 whereas for the extra geeks you will have to shell out hefty Rs 8075 for the C3-01.

Thus the phones are suited for 2 different categories. One is a mini Smartphone while the other is a basic entry level handset.
