Already having Bollywood hotties like Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor as brand ambassadors, China's major smartphone brand Oppo is eyeing the booming mid-tier smartphone market in emerging countries like India, which is set to grow in double digits.

 

The company aims at focusing on mid-range smartphones, and the first such handset - the Oppo R1 has been officially launched at Rs. 26,990.

 

The Oppo R1 is a typical mid-end handset with practical features at a price you've always wanted.

Oppo R1: 5-Inch Quad-Core Smartphone Launched in India At Rs 26,990

The Android-powered handset features a 5-inch IPS display having a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor powered by a MediaTek MT6582 chipset coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of non-expandable on-board storage.

On the imaging front, the R1 comes with an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front camera, both with f/2.0 wide aperture, which is capable of delivering excellent images in low light conditions.

The device measures 7.1mm in terms of thickness and weighs about 140 grams. The makers have added a 2,410mAh battery fitted inside, and there is no word on removable battery.

Oppo R1- Competition

Well, talking about the competition the Oppo R1 will face rather grilling competition from market leaders in the mid-end market, such as the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, Sony Xperia T2 Ultra, Lenovo Vibe X and the Gionee Elife E7 for that matter.

Oppo N1 Now Available for less

Oppo began selling its first phone, the high-end N1 in India earlier this year at a price point of Rs. 39,990. Now, the company has already reduced the price of N1 to Rs. 37,990.
