Optimus G2: Can LG Beat Samsung Galaxy S4 with 1080p Display and 2GHz Quad Core CPU Smartphone in 2013?

After the successful launch of Google branded LG Nexus 4, which shares a lot of features with Optimus G, the South Korean smartphone vendor has definitely regained its lost status in the smartphone world and has come out as a competitor to biggies sin the market including Samsung and Apple. 

Now it seems that LG is secretly prepping to a superior package to surge the mobile space – the successor of Optimus G with a better screen and better processor. 

This can be said as according to a new report by MK Business News, a Korean publication, which often leaks information regarding the Samsung and LG product expansion plans has now revealed that Optimus G2 will be launched in next six months, which is May 2013.

Further, the report has also claimed that LG Electronics is in talks with its subsidiaries including LG Display and LG Innotek and will reportedly launch a new smartphone with the likes of 1080p high definition display.

The report also informed that Optimus G2 will include a gorgeous 440 pixels per inch screen that will be 1.5 times sharper than Apple's Retina Display included in the iPhone 5 and five to six times clearer than a 40-inch, full HD TV. Moreover, LG is planning to incorporate an AMOLED display in the upcoming rumored smartphone.

As far as the other specifications are concerned, Optimus G2 is expected to come equipped with a quad core 2.0 GHz processor and the next iteration of Android dubbed as Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.

Reportedly, there are also evidences that Google is prepping Android 5.0 as a Sony device was recently spotted in benchmark tests running the next generation OS.

iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4 Rival Alert

In a market which is dominated by major smartphone manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, HTC and Nokia, it may not be the first choice of the buyers to go for an LG smartphone.However, recently a  MK News surfaced online which informed that LG along with Samsung willreportedly release smartphone with AMOLED and LCD displays with over 400 PPI pixel density. Back in May, reports claimed that LG Display was the first one to show a 5 inch 440 PPI smartphone display. Also, Samsung Electronics was alo informed to purchase full HD AMOLED display panels from Samsung Display to employ them on its smartphones.

With the little information that is being rumored about Optimus G2, it can be said that the handset could offer a head-to-head challenge to rumored Samsung Galaxy S4.

Going by the earlier launches, LG always had an answer to Samsung, though it is little late. LG launched Optimus G to compete with Galaxy S3 and Optimus Vu to offer a tough competition to Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Speaking of rumored specifications, Samsung Galaxy S4, is speculated to boast a 5 inch AMOLED HD display along with 1920 x 1080 pixel of resolution accompanied with remarkable 441 ppi pixel density, 2GHz quad core Cortex A15 processor, 13MP rear camera, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie and 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB internal storage options.

When it comes to release date, Galaxy S4 is speculated to be unveiled during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013 or Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013 events early next year. Moreover, the handset is pegged for a release by the end of February. 

On the other hand, Apple’s Retina Display technology was a knockout when it got debuted on the New iPad screen, which was released in early 2012 and included a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels with more than 300 PPI. Since, then no tech consumer manufacturer has been able to meet the finesse of the screen display what Apple devices hold including the new iPhone 5 and also the successor iPhone 5s. 

However, now it seems LG is all get set and ready to go for a battle with the smartphone giants. Especially, after the launch of Optimus G and its revamped Google branded Nexus 4 smartphones, the South Korean handset vendor has no plans to sit behind and watch the launch of upcoming heavyweights of Samsung and Apple.
