New Optimus Variants From LG: Pro & Net
Android Operating platforms are now the bread and butter of Smartphones. Android OS is now found on almost 40 % of all Smartphones introduced in the market today. Companies prefer to use android instead of other OS"s because of its free availability and the backing of the Open Source community behind the development of Android. The Android OS is much more suited for mobile devices as it is lighter, less resource hungry and much more charge efficient than its competitors.

Going by this trend one of the World"s biggest mobile and electronic equipment manufacturers LG has launched 2 new mobile handsets running on Android"s latest incarnation- Android Gingerbread.

Both the models are Smartphones and belong to the Optimus Series of phones. They are christened Optimus Pro and Optimus Net. Both the phones are mid range mobiles that offer all the latest features that are found on high end and expensive upmarket Smartphones today.

Optimus Pro is a touch and type handset whereas Optimus Net is a full touch screen based device. Both the phones will initially be made available by LG in Europe followed by a massive roll out in Asia and North America.

Optimus Pro features a 2.8 inch capacitive touch screen based display in addition to a physical QWERTY keypad. Optimus Net has a large 3.2 inch capacitive touch screen based display with HVGA resolution. The Pro is targeted at social networking and messaging freaks who like to use their phones for typing text very often. The inclusion of Android Gingerbread OS and the Optimus User Interface on such texting phones will be an added advantage.

The phone has a powerful 800 MHz Qualcomm processor that is coupled to a 256 MB RAM and 512 MB of ROM. The phone has a 3 Mega Pixel camera that allows video recording but only in VGA format. The phone has some interesting features like accelerometer and proximity sensors, Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, Wi-Fi internet connectivity and high speed 3G network support.

Optimus Net on the other hand has a 3.2 inch capacitive touch screen based display. The phone has the same 800 MHz Qualcomm processor as that found on the Pro. The phone is also equipped with a number of handy utilities like Bluetooth, Optimus UI, Wi-Fi connectivity, high speed 3G data access. This Net phone is also equipped with a 3 Mega Pixel camera that allows VGA video recording.

It is heard that LG will offer these two phones with Dual SIM support in Asian markets. Optimus Pro and Optimus Net will be available in India by the end of 2011 and is expected to cost between Rs 15000 and Rs 18000.
