Panasonic P81 With Octa-Core CPU Teased For May Launch in India

Japanese electronics giant Panasonic hasn't been able to crack the mainstream Indian handset market. Now, it seems that Panasonic has opted to re-direct their focus on the growing mid-range market for 2014.

Panasonic is said to make headway into the mid-range device realm with their soon-to-be launched P81. The company will launch the new Panasonic P81, and has been sending out teaser posters since the beginning of the month.

For instance, the latest teaser for the Panasonic P81 hints that the handset will come powered by an octa-core processor. The latest poster promoted the Panasonic P81 and promises a power packed performance.

The poster also throws in some marketing hype, touting that phone to be insanely powerful. The poster, reads, "Get ready for speed" alongside "Octa core, sweet, smooth, sensational." It also shows the phone will come pre-loaded with a slew of apps, namely, Hungama, Evernote, Readware, amongst others. No further info about the device has been provided by the company.

Not long ago, Panasonic posted a teaser hinted at swappable multi-coloured rear back covers similar to that of Micromax Canvas 2 Colors A120 , Motorola Moto G and the Moto E. The second teaser, on the other hand, hinted at new software features including multi Windows and a smart app switch.

Meanwhile, the company hasn't given put any incremental details about the phone, it could be none other than the MediaTek MT6592 "true" octa-core CPU that goes under the hood.

There are a wide range of octa-core chip based smartphones slated to launch in India this fiscal year. So far, 5 phones have launched in India with MediaTek's "true" octa-core processor: the Intex Aqua Octa, the Micromax Canvas Knight, the Karbonn Titanium Octane, the Titanium Octane Plus, and the the Wickedleak Wammy Passion X. All these phones have been priced upwards of Rs. 14,000.
