Panasonic has launched the super affordable T9 handset in India for just Rs. 3,750 outright. On top of its incredibly low price, the handset has above average specifications.

With the Panasonic T9, the Japanese giant aims to multiply its market share in India - the world's third largest smartphone market after China and the U.S.

The Panasonic T9, which runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat), looks to conquer the low-end handset market, effectively taking on the likes of Asus Zenfone 4.

Both are compact handsets. In fact, neither of the two have expressive design, though, the Panasonic T9 has an upper hand in the design department.

Both the phones have mediocre displays. For starters, there is a bit of size difference, though, with the Asus Zenfone 4 houses a 4-inch screen (800 x 480), whereas the Panasonic T9 comes with a 3.5-inch (320 x 480) resolution display. Neither is a super-resolution display, but both are certainly passable for day to day use.

While both phones use a dual-core processor, they technically use different models. The Panasonic T9 is powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. The device offers 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot.

The Asus Zenfone 4 runs a dual-core (Intel) chipset, paired with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of ROM and a microSD card slot. Plus, the company is also offering free 5GB of cloud storage.

Both the Panasonic T9 and Asus Zenfone 4 support all major 2G frequency bands. Both have Dual-SIM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and FM Radio. Panasonic T9, in the meanwhile, does not support 3G connectivity.

Panasonic T9 Vs Asus Zenfone 4: Software

The Panasonic T9 runs on Android 4.4, whereas the Asus-made Zenfone 4 is an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean handset ( upgradable to Android 4.4). More importantly, Asus has added its own custom layer on top of the Zenfone 4.

Neither phone is likely to have a decent camera. For the record, the Panasonic T9 has a 2MP rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3MP (VGA) front-facing shooter.

The Asus Zenfone 4 offers a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3MP front-facing camera. But without actually testing them it's impossible to say if either is better.

In the battery department, the Panasonic T9 enjoys a 1,300mAh pack inside, while the Asus Zenfone 4 has a 1,600mAh battery pack.

If you're looking at budget devices, price is probably your primary concern. The Panasonic T9 is now available for Rs. 3,750, whereas the Asus Zenfone 4 is available at a price of Rs. 5,899.

The Asus Zenfone 4 is an all-round device. It has slightly better specs, features and better camera. At the same time, the Panasonic T9 is still a great choice for any fans of Android phones. The device is priced under Rs. 4,000 price bracket, which could be a game changer for the brand.
