Google Pixel 10 vs Vivo X200 FE Real-World Camera Test: Which Compact Flagship Shoots Better Photos?

Over the last few years, Google's Pixel smartphones have steadily set the benchmark for mobile photography, consistently offering some of the best camera performance in the industry. And the recently launched Pixel 10 is no exception, thanks to its new and improved triple-camera setup. If you are looking for a non-pro compact flagship smartphone that excels at photography, there's no doubt the Pixel 10 ticks all the right boxes.

However, it isn't the only one of its kind. The Vivo X200 FE made its debut in India last month, debuting as the company's most affordable smartphone in its flagship X200 series. And like other phones in the X series, the X200 FE brings its 'A' game in the camera department. But is it enough to take on the Pixel 10? Let's find out in this detailed article.

Google Pixel 10 vs Vivo X200 FE: Real-World Camera Test

Now that we've covered the hardware, it's time to see how both phones perform in real-life scenarios.

Main Camera: Daylight

When I compared the Pixel 10 and Vivo X200 FE in daylight, the difference was immediately obvious. The Pixel 10's shot looked brighter, with an excellent exposure balance; the shadows revealed more detail, although the sky appeared a bit washed out. The Vivo, on the other hand, went for drama: punchier contrast, richer colours, and a strikingly detailed sky. It looked stunning at first glance, but the darker building and parking lot meant some details got lost in the shadows.

Personally, the Vivo's shot felt more Instagram-ready, while the Pixel leaned towards a truer-to-life representation.

Ultrawide Camera: Daylight

Switching to ultrawide, the character of both cameras became even clearer. The Vivo X200 FE delivered a moodier, cooler-toned image, with a ramped-up contrast level, which made the scene feel cinematic, though not entirely natural. The Pixel 10's ultrawide shot looked brighter, cleaner, and more lifelike, with less distortion.

The difference in quality was clear: the Vivo's ultrawide felt like a step down from its main camera, while the Pixel maintained consistency across lenses.

Telephoto Camera: Daylight

Zooming in at 10x was another area where the Pixel impressed me. Its telephoto shot came out sharper, with natural colours and impressive detail in the leaves and building textures. The X200 FE produced a livelier-looking photo with more contrast, but when I zoomed in, the processing gave it a "watercolour painting" feel, and fine details in foliage were smudged away.

Between the two, the Pixel 10's shot is one I'd actually want to keep.

Main Camera: Low Light

Night shots are where things are more of a mixed bag. The Pixel's photos looked controlled, with balanced highlights and excellent shadow detail, even under streetlights. But, despite the yellow lights, Pixel forced the white balance into a cooler tone. Moreover, the sharp light from street lamps was harsh for Pixel to handle, as evidenced by the glare shining. On the other hand, Vivo's night shots looked brighter and more appealing, and again, Instagram-ready. The images have good contrast, but the details on the cars appear to be over-sharpened upon zooming in.

To my eyes, Pixel handled dynamic range better, retaining texture in trees and clouds, while Vivo produced images that looked flashier but less faithful. So, the Pixel 10 continues its run of keeping things more accurate here as well.

Ultrawide Camera: Low Light

Finally, the ultrawide in night mode told the same story. The Pixel delivered a darker but sharper shot with minimal noise and accurate colours. The Vivo went brighter and warmer, pulling out more shadow detail, but with noticeable noise and reduced sharpness around lights.

It's one of those cases where Vivo's image is more eye-catching, but Pixel's feels more realistic.

Portrait Shot

Portraits really highlighted the different philosophies at play. The Pixel 10 kept things natural and realistic, with excellent edge detection that separated the subject from the background in a way that looked clean and convincing. The Vivo X200 FE, though, leaned into drama - higher saturation, stronger contrast, and a more stylized bokeh, enhanced with ZEISS tuning.

Personally, I liked the Vivo's portraits for social sharing, but the Pixel's looked closer to how the scene actually felt in person.

Selfie Camera: Daylight

In daylight selfies, Vivo's photo instantly pops off the screen; bright, vibrant, and contrast-heavy. It looked great for a quick share, though I noticed it over-sharpened details like the beard and the background foliage. Moreover, the skin-tones on the X200 FE appear a bit yellowish, adding warmth to the subject's face. The Pixel, meanwhile, gave a softer, but a more realistic look with balanced exposure and excellent skin tones. It didn't grab attention the way Vivo's shot did, but it felt more personal.

For photography enthusiasts, Pixel wins; for social media flair, I'd lean towards the X200 FE.

Selfie Camera: Portrait

Portrait selfies were an interesting mix. The Vivo surprised me with cleaner edge detection, especially around tricky spots like hair strands and shoulders. It also managed to reduce motion blur better than the Pixel. That said, the Pixel's portrait selfie preserved more fine detail and produced a more natural blur. Personally,

I'd call this one a draw, Vivo wins on polish, Pixel on detail.

Selfie Camera: Low Light

In low light selfies, the Pixel 10 once again handled things more gracefully. The image looked sharper, with better edge definition and less noise, even around tricky areas like the eyes and facial contours. The X200 FE struggled here, showing more motion blur and softness.

Colour tones on the Pixel 10 also felt truer, not perfect, but closer to reality than Vivo's warmer, blurrier take.

Conclusion

Overall, I felt like the Pixel 10 consistently leaned toward realism, capturing moments as they were, while the Vivo X200 FE aimed for drama and social media flair. Depending on your style, one may appeal more than the other, but for someone like me who values detail, balance, and lifelike results, the Pixel 10 felt more reliable across the board.
