InFocus Vision 3 Pro first impression; A competitive phone with impressive specs
InFocus Vision 3 Pro brings quite a few upgrades over last year's Vision 3.

US-based OEM InFocus today launched a new smartphone called InFocus Vision 3 Pro. It brings quite a few upgrades over last year's Vision 3. Priced at Rs. 10,999, the smartphone will go on sale exclusively via Amazon India. The Vision 3 Pro comes with several highlights including sleek design, 18:9 display, and dual cameras among others.

Moreover, the InFocus Vision 3 Pro boasts Face Unlock feature, which is not something we see in phones in this price category category. Even though all these sound good on paper, the smartphone will have to take on the likes of Motorola Moto G5S, Lenovo K8 Plus, Xiaomi Redmi 4 and more. So, it remains to be seen how the smartphone does in terms of sales, here's our first impression of the InFocus Vision 3 Pro.

Build, design and display
At first glance, the front panel of the InFocus Vision 3 Pro looks identical to that of the Samsung Galaxy S8. It has an elongated display with 18:9 aspect ratio and narrow bezels. Since we have the Midnight Black variant, it gives an illusion of a completely bezel-less smartphone when the screen is turned off. Instead of featuring a physical home button, the Vision 3 Pro has an on-screen home button.
The rear panel of the Vision 3 Pro will again remind you of the iPhone 7 Plus. It has a similar horizontal dual camera setup along with an LED flash module. The fingerprint scanner is placed a little below towards the center, followed by the InFocus branding.
The left side of the phone has the SIM tray, whereas the right side houses the power button and the volume control button. At the bottom edge, you get a standard micro-USB port and the speaker grilles. At the top, there is a 3.5mm audio jack.
Design-wise, despite featuring a plastic back, the InFocus Vision 3 Pro manages to look premium. Unfortunately, the plastic finish makes the back panel a fingerprint magnet. The smartphone doesn't quite offer a good grip, which can be a sore point for some (especially if you have tiny hands).
The Vision 3 Pro is fitted with a 5.7-inch On-Cell display that delivers HD+ resolution, which is a plus. Based on our hands-on experience, the display is quite bright and the texts look sharp. On the flip side, the touchscreen is not that responsive, and we faced lags while opening apps and clicking pictures. However, we will come with a detailed review of the device to give you a full verdict on the performance.

Hardware and performance
The InFocus Vision 3 Pro is driven by an octa-core processor that is clocked at 1.5GHz. The (which chipset) chipset is coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable inbuilt storage space; significant upgrade over the InFocus Vision 3 which offers only 2GB RAM and 16GB default storage. Moreover, at this price point, there are hardly a few phones with 64GB storage.
During our brief usage, we didn't come across any noteworthy lags or stutter when browsing the internet or playing light games. That said, the smartphone takes longer than usual to boot, which can frustrate the impatient users. Another thing we didn't like is how the phone heats up only after like 5 minutes of playing some game. All-in-all, the InFocus Vision 3 Pro may not deliver a stellar performance, but it gets the job done.
The Vision 3 Pro draws power from a 4,000mAh battery, which is probably why the handset feels a little heavy. The battery capacity is decent, and you might not need to charge it more than once in a day.

Cameras
The dual rear camera setup is definitely one of the USPs of the InFocus Vision 3 Pro. There is a 13MP primary sensor and an 8MP secondary sensor. The rear camera comes with several features like Beauty Mode, Pro Mode, Portrait Mode, Pano Mode (for panoramic shots) and Time-Lapse. We didn't have much expectations from the Portrait Mode, but the pictures we clicked managed to impress us. However, the low-light performance of the camera is not up to the mark looking at the competition.
The selfie camera is a 13MP sensor which can click pretty decent pictures. We really liked how the camera doesn't unnecessarily whiten the complexion or blur the edges. The only downer is the lack of a selfie flash.
The front camera is equipped with Face Unlock feature, which seemed to work well. We also dug the DualFie feature that captures snaps from both the front and rear cameras and merges them into one shot.

Software
We think the software part of the InFocus Vision 3 Pro might affect the sales performance of the phone. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system, which is almost 2 years old. The Android Nougat OS is topped with InFocus's custom SmileUX. The smartphone has something called App Twin feature that lets you log into two accounts for the same social media app.

Verdict
While the InFocus Vision 3 Pro delivers a decent performance, it is not without shortcomings. It has some common problems like slow responsiveness and overheating. Surely, there is room for improvement, we were pretty happy with the phone's design (even though it's inspired by other phones), camera performance and the native storage capacity.
