Ivoomi Me3S is the latest smartphone from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer to debut in India. It is the flagship model from the brand and will retail for Rs. 6,499 in the sub-continent.
Ivoomi aims to acquire a substantial market share in the country by offering pocket-friendly smartphones to the masses that are equally equipped with specifications that are in demand.
We have seen few more handsets from iVoomi make their way to Indian consumers since March 2017. All the devices from the brand are in the sub10K price range. iVoomi has nothing innovative to offer but it has certainly tried to give the best specifications possible in a constrained budget.
The big question, however, that remains to bug everyone is whether the smartphones are competitive enough in quality as well.
This is our first impression of the flagship device from iVoomi, the Me3S.
The iVoomi Me3S is powered by MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor. The device gets 3GB of RAM with 32GB inbuilt storage. MicroSD card support enables you to expand memory to 128GB.
The 4G VoLTE smartphone has 5.2 inch HD IPS display with 1280x720 pixels of resolution and 2.5 D curve glass protection. On the camera front, the Me3S has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and 8MP front snapper with a single LED flash as well. Ivoomi has incorporated Samsung sensor on Me3S. The smartphone boasts Android Nougat 7.0. It gets 3000mAh battery with power saving and machine learning optimization. The device supports fast charging which we will put to test once we review the device. The smartphone comes in three colors viz. Midnight Black, Champagne Gold, and Teal Blue.
Its younger sibling iVoomi Me3 has very few differences, which are, the Me3 has 8MP rear camera, 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory.
Design: Nothing too impressive
The smartphone fails to deliver an impression on the onlooker. The device has a three touch enabled buttons on the front panel which are back button, home button, and apps switching button. The front camera and the earpiece are on top along with a single LED flash for the front camera.
The rear back panel is removable and so is the battery of the device. It fits in two sims and a microSD card with a maximum storage capacity of 128GB.
The volume rockers and the power toggle are on the right side edge of the device. The micro USB 2.0 port along with 3.5mm audio jack is on the top where as there is no speaker drill on rear panel or on the bottom edge.
The design is really simple and has no intriguing element to add to the smartphone's aesthetics.
Camera: 13MP snapper on the rear
The iVoomi Me3S will retail at Rs. 6,499. It is offering a 13MP rear camera which is seen on very few devices in the price segment. The smartphone gets a Samsung sensor which gives it abilities to capture some decent low light images.
The front 8MP camera is also decent enough for a device that costs less than Rs. 7,000. The front flash adds up to the smartphone's value to a fair bit. The video recording on the device is lag free which is generally not the situation with smartphone cameras in the price segment.
The low light performance was also decent enough for both front and back camera.
Performance and hardware
The MediaTek MT6737 processor on the device is not known to be an out-of-the-box performer however it is known to be quite reliable. Me3S couples the processor with 3GB of RAM and although you may still have a problem running high-mid segment games you can expect the device to pull you through small apps and games very easily. We will provide you an in-depth detail of device's performance once we get our hands on it for a review.
Display: 5.2-inch display in a compact body
The 5.2-inch HD IPS display on the device looks bit oversaturated. The screen, on the other hand, is well it. The size of the display is optimum for enjoying gaming and watching videos.
Software and UI: Android Nougat 7.0
The iVoomi Me3S runs Android Nougat 7.0. The UI, on the other hand, is a stock version with some unique elements incorporated by iVoomi. The assistive touch on the device gives easy accessibility option and also adds an interesting element to the UI.
Conclusion: iVoomi is relying on the specifications of Me3S
This would not be an understatement that iVoomi has its eyes on the prize and is solely relying on the specifications to lift up its sales.
The price segment it is trying to infiltrate already has a lot of competitors from various brands.
We will do an in-depth review of the device and give you complete details on how it fares up against competitors like Moto C Plus and Intex.
