Moto G57 Power 5G Review: A Well-Balanced and Battery Anxiety Free Phone Under 15K

Whenever I review an entry-level smartphone, I usually swap my SIM card back into my primary device once testing is done. That's because most budget phones miss out on something – whether it's the design or the camera. Being a snap lover, a good camera is a must for me.

However, even after completing the testing, I'm still using the Moto G57 Power as my primary device. For a phone under the ₹15K segment, it has everything I expect. That said, there are a few drawbacks that could be a problem for some users. So, let's check out this detailed review to see whether it fits your needs.

Moto G57 Power: Price in India and Where to Buy?

The Moto G57 Power 5G will cost you Rs 14,999 for the sole 8GB/128GB variant. The smartphone can be purchased via Flipkart, the Motorola India online store, and other retail channels. Our review unit came in the Pantone Regatta color; however, the phone is also available in two more shades: Pantone Fluidity and Pantone Corsair.

Design and Build Quality

Until I find a cute, fancy back cover for my phone, I usually prefer using it without one. With the Moto G57 Power, I didn't feel the need to look for a cover (none was included in the box) thanks to its vegan leather back. The rear panel feels soothing to the touch and offers a good grip without being slippery.

Although the phone features a plastic frame, the camera island and overall design give it a premium look. The side-mounted fingerprint sensor and volume rockers are placed on the right side and are easy to access. At 8.6mm thick and around 210 grams, the phone does feel a bit bulky. That said, the weight is justified given the large 7,000 mAh battery, and it remains comfortable to use for long periods.

On the front, there's a punch-hole cutout with noticeably thick bezels, which may not appeal to everyone. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i also protects the display and features Smart Water Touch, which improves screen responsiveness when used with wet hands.

Moreover, the Moto G57 Power also comes with MIL-STD-810H certification along with an IP64 rating, offering solid protection against drops, dust, and splashes. That said, it's advised to keep the phone away from water bodies, as it can cause big problems.

Display and Audio

The Moto G57 Power features a 6.72-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 1,080 × 2,400 pixels. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and offers up to 1,050 nits of peak brightness. The display offers good clarity with sharp visuals, and indoor visibility is excellent. Outdoor visibility holds up well, though it struggles slightly in harsh sunlight. That said, this is something you'll notice on most phones in this price segment.

Another thing is that if you are looking for an AMOLED panel, you can consider other options. While the majority of smartphones in this price range feature LCD panels, a few models offer AMOLED displays, such as the Galaxy M17 and the Redmi Note 14 SE 5G.

Even so, the Moto G57 Power's display delivers a smooth and enjoyable viewing experience for its asking price. Overall, I had a good experience with the display, whether it was scrolling through Instagram reels or watching videos.

Coming to the audio, the Moto G57 Power is equipped with Dolby Atmos-supported stereo speakers that deliver a loud and immersive sound experience. While the audio output is clear, the bass could have been better.

Another plus point is the inclusion of a 3.5 mm headphone jack at the bottom. While I don't use wired headphones anymore, it's still a plus-especially for our parents or users who prefer them.

Performance

The Moto G57 Power is powered by Qualcomm's octa-core 4nm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage, which is non-expandable. In daily usage, app opening is fast, and the phone feels smooth overall. However, it's worth noting that the Realme P4x 5G, which sits in the same price range, comes with faster UFS 3.1 storage.

In benchmark tests, the Moto G57 Power scored 808,896 on AnTuTu. In comparison, the Realme P4x 5G crossed the 1 million mark, although it was the higher storage variant. Storage performance tests also show that Motorola lags behind its rival, while Geekbench 6 scores for both phones remain almost similar. In real-world usage, I didn't face any heating issues while playing BGMI, and I also played casual games like Subway Surfers, which also naturally ran smoothly. However, if you are a gaming enthusiast, there are better options, like the Realme P4x in the same price range.

Software

The Moto G57 Power runs on Android 16, and there aren't many pre-installed apps, so you get a nearly stock Android experience. Overall, the software feels smooth; however, Motorola promises only one major OS update, which is a significant drawback, as many smartphones in the same price range now offer at least three years of OS updates.

Camera

The Moto G57 Power's camera delivers natural-looking images with good detail on both the front and rear cameras. Whether I was capturing my daily road snaps or greenery, the shots looked realistic. On top of that, the ultra-wide camera is a big plus, something not commonly available in this price segment.

If you see our outdoor shots, the Moto G57 Power handles exposure well, maintaining a good balance between the sky and the darker foreground. HDR works effectively to preserve details in the clouds without completely crushing the shadows in the trees and buildings.

Daylight portrait shots turn out well, with good edge detection and subject separation. In low-light conditions, you'll get decent shots but struggle to retain finer details. However, with Night Mode enabled, the images have better colours and detailing. Coming to the selfie camera, the front camera sensor delivers a natural and balanced photo for its asking price.

In light, the facial details are captured with good skin tone reproduction that doesn't look overly smooth. However, in slightly lower light, you may notice a bit of softness and mild noise. Moreover, the phone supports 2K video recording at 30fps and daylight recording is good, delivering decent detail. However, in indoor or slightly low-light conditions, the skin tones tend to look overly soft.

Battery Life and Charging

The Moto G57 Power packs a 7,000mAh battery with 33W wired fast charging, and a charger is included in the box. It took one hour to charge from 25% to 100%. After a full charge, I used the phone for two days, which included scrolling on social media, watching a few episodes on Netflix, and using other apps - the battery dropped only to around 50%. However, I didn't finish any movie during this time, so battery drain may vary depending on usage.

Verdict

If you are looking for a well-balanced phone under ₹15k, the Moto G57 Power is worth considering. While gamers can look at other options like the Realme P4x, camera lovers and anyone who wants long-lasting battery life, Motorola's G57 Power is a good pick.

Moreover, you get a nearly stock Android experience, but OS updates are very limited, so it may not be suitable for people buying a phone for long-term usage. Ultimately, the choice depends on your needs.
