Oppo F1 is the Perfect Smartphone for Selfie Freaks! [First Impressions]
Oppo may not be as popular as its Chinese competitor - Xiaomi in India but has created quite a name for itself among the smartphone arena for not only being able to release decent hardware at a reasonable price point but also for producing some great camera smartphone.
Oppo has launched its latest selfie-centric smartphone - the Oppo F1, which the company claims as the Selfie Expert. The Oppo F1 is targeted at selfie lovers, who can click pictures and edit them using the available touch ups. We got a chance to take a sneak peak of the device, and here are our first impressions.
- Selfie Camera
- Design
- Built Quality
- 720P Display Resolution
- Battery
The Oppo F1 is built with a sleek aluminum body that is polished to give a great finish to hold and move around in your hand. Well, it feels more than a little reminiscent of the iPhone. On the front, it has a 5-inch display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The 5-inch 2.5D glass is certainly impressive given at the low price tag, unlike many other devices at this price point.
The smartphone is made of premium materials including a brushed metal finish. It has chamfered edge on the sides are at 60-degree angle making it a nice phone to hold, but the rounded edges and sides have a plastic-like feel.
The key features of the Oppo F1 are its camera. This handset brings the impressive camera from the Oppo R7, but with tweaks in both hardware and the software. The rear camera is 13 megapixel with ISOCELL sensor from Samsung that offers Phase Detection Autofocus, which the company claims to have a focus time of just 0.1 seconds.
The camera also features its very own Pure Image camera platform and range of filters to touch up. There are the bunch of filters available in the Oppo F1, and the interesting one is the Ultra HD that combines four images and compresses the data to make a 50-megapixel image. While, using the device for a while, at the launch event, we found the camera quite impressive, but it will be too early for the final verdict.
The next best thing to talk about the Oppo F1 is its front-facing selfie snapper. It sports an 8-megapixel selfie camera that features a wide f/2.0 aperture lens and a ¼ inch sensor inside. Like the rear camera, the 8-megapixel front camera also offers a lot of filters and modes like beauty mode, voice-controlled selfie, hand gesture click, and click GIF selfie as well.
The F1's 8-megapixel front-facing camera features a sophisticated Pure Image 2.0+ photography platform offering Beautify 3.0, patented Screen Flash to make snapping selfies in low-light conditions, and can shoot selfies using hand gestures and spoken commands, ensuring stunning selfies in all conditions.
The company has made a couple of bold claims that the front-facing camera lets in 44 percent more light than other smartphones that have f/2.4 lenses and the images are 35 percent brighter than traditional 5-megapixel selfie phones.
Under the hood, the Oppo F1 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 616 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It runs on Android 5.1 skinned with Oppo's ColorOS user interface. The interface is very impressive, it is smooth and fast without any useless pre-installed apps. On the storage front, it comes with 16GB of internal storage and has a microSD card slot to expand the memory up to 128GB.
To sum up our first impressions, with a metal build and gold finish the Oppo F1 feels a premium device at an affordable price. At the price of Rs. 15,990, Oppo gives a tough fight to smartphones like Lenovo Vibe P1 and a close competition to OnePlus X, Xiaomi Mi series and the Moto G lineups.
