Realme Narzo 30 Pro Review: Fits The Bill?
Mid-range 5G smartphones are the rage of the industry. Smartphone brands have become aggressive with product launches in this segment. Indian market is probably the biggest playground with multiple new 5G smartphone launches in recent times. While the OnePlus Nord is the only one leading this race, new competitors have bounced in to claim the title of cheapest 5G smartphone.
- 5G connectivity at an affordable price
- 120Hz LCD Display
- Fast Charging supported 5,000 mAh battery
- Old Android 10 OS
- Hybrid SIM card slot
Realme has been one of the most proactive brands that have been launching one after another 5G handset in the country. After the Realme X7 and the X7 Pro, the Narzo 30 Pro joined this race. Realme had introduced the Narzo series last year specifically for users who are drawn to value-flagships. The latest entrant is a successor to the Narzo 20 Pro with a new design language and upgraded hardware. How well this device fairs in carrying forward the legacy of its predecessor? Let's find out:
Realme Narzo 30 Pro: Design And Display Performance
Realme's design language for the Narzo 30 Pro isn't bold to be honest. The handset bears a subtle-looking design where the all-plastic body feels a sturdy. The matte-textured back panel adds to the appeal, while the slim profile makes it comfortable to hold.
The bundled case comes as a safeguard against scratches, but it adds to the bulk. You probably would like to use the device without it. Realme has opted for a side-mounted fingerprint scanner on the Narzo 30 Pro. It's embedded within the power key and is accurate and fast with unlocking.
The volume rockers are ideally positioned on the left, while the SIM card tray is hybrid which is unlike other Realme smartphones where you get a dedicated microSD slot. So, you get to use one SIM and one microSD card simultaneously.
You will be impressed by the crisp colors produced by the large 6.5-inch LCD panel on the Narzo 30 Pro. While an AMOLED display would have been a better choice, the LCD's performance is also well marked here. The higher refresh rate allows for smooth gameplay.
By default, the refresh rate setting is toggled to 'Auto' mode. It aids the panel to switch between screen refresh rates (60Hz- 120Hz) depending on the app's requirement. Brightness levels are also on the higher side making it easy to view content under harsh sunlight. The tall display along with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate intensifies the viewing experience.
Realme Narzo 30 Pro: Hardware And Battery Performance
The Realme Nazro 30 Pro uses the MediaTek Dimesity 800U processor. The brand had earlier introduced the Realme X7 with the same chipset. The user experience is the same on both Realme smartphones. You get faster processing and a lag-free experience.
The chipset comprises a built-in modem for 5G network connectivity. Its 8GB RAM is ample for swift multitasking. No app force shut-downs or free issues you will experience. This is with multiple apps running at the same time in the background. The device handles gaming also without any flinch. The 120Hz refresh rate amplifies the gaming experience.
Besides, only a slight warm-up is experienced if the device is being used extensively during gameplay. General tasks such as web surfing, calling, and media playback are also smooth on the Narzo 30 Pro. The onboard storage offered by this handset is up to 128GB. It is sufficient for basic files including camera images and other online and local downloads. You can expand the storage as well using a microSD card.
The battery powering the Realme Narzo 30 Pro measures 5,000 mAh. This big battery packs ample fuel for a day of backup. Consider using the handset moderately to get the maximum of backup. Besides, the company has thrown in 30W fast charging which re-charges the devices in less than two hours.
Realme Narzo 30 Pro: Camera Performance
Realme has played much with the camera hardware on the Narzo 30 Pro. Rather, the brand has removed an additional sensor and has packed the unit with a triple-camera module.
The camera array is similar to the Realme X7 with a 48MP primary sensor that has an f/1.8 aperture and an 8MP wide-angle sensor with a 119-degree FoV. The third lens is a 2MP camera for macro photography.
The 12MP default pixel-binned shots capture a good amount of details overall. You will be satisfied with the camera output with the shots clicked in good lighting conditions.
The color saturation gets a bit intensified with the AI scene mode on. You can keep this feature off to click a natural-looking shot. The wide-angle-sensor captures a broader frame, while the macro sensor adds captures the minute details.
Other shooting modes allow you to capture slow-motion videos and Time-lapse. The camera app also has the toggle for HDR mode, Panorama, and portrait mode. The bokeh shots are good with a smoother background blur that doesn't appear too gimmicky.
The Narzo 30 Pro isn't an impressive performer when it comes to low-light imaging. The details are missing in the night-photographs.
The images turn out to be grainy if there isn't sufficient brightness in the background and the edges are also not sharp. The front camera lives up to the expectations. The 16MP selfie snapper is good with clicking self-portraits for social media uploads.
Realme Narzo 30 Pro: Software And Benchmark Performance
The Realme Narzo 30 Pro ships with the dated Android 10 OS. The skin pre-installed is Realme UI which offers a near-stock user experience. The company could have used the newer Android version, i.e, Android 11 OS. But still this doesn't qualify as a big deal breaker.
The handset has all the necessary Android features and shortcuts that allow for easy usage. It also has the dedicated Dark mode which you can toggle-on from the Notifications bar. The device isn't free of bloatware; there are a few third-party apps pre-installed whose absence would have made the UI neat.
We ran three different benchmark tests to test the performance of the Narzo 30 Pro. In the PCMark Work 2.0 performance test, the device achieved 10844 points. We also tested the device with the 3DMark gaming benchmark test where it scored 3141 points on the Sling Shot Extreme test. Lastly, the device logged 583 points and 1759 points in the single-core and multi-core benchmark test on Geekbench5.
Realme Narzo 30 Pro: Verdict
Realme has emerged as A competent brand in the smartphone industry in recent years. The company has been focused at delivering pocket-friendly devices to the masses. The Realme Narzo 30 Pro is the company's latest bet in the affordable segment.
The mid-tier handset is packed with features for which you probably would have to chunk some extra bucks from your pocket. The device carries a price label of Rs. 16,999 which is by far the cheapest for any 5G handset in the country. A powerful processor with 5G support, a big battery setup, and decent camera hardware brings this device into the frontline with a roar.
