Realme P3 5G First Impressions - The Good, The Bad, and The X-Factor

The Realme P3 5G has finally been launched in India after much anticipation, boasting a few features like an IP69 rating and 6050mm sq aerospace-grade VC system typically found in high-end smartphones. The phone is available in three distinct colour options, but our review unit came in the eye-catching Nebula Pink, which is likely to attract many, especially those who prefer vibrant designs.

However, beyond its appealing colour and sleek design, the question is whether the features justify its price tag of Rs 14,999 (introductory price). After using the device for a couple of days, here are my initial thoughts on Realme's latest offering.

Realme P3 5G First Impressions Review: The Good

The standout feature of the Realme P3 5G is undoubtedly its performance. It's India's first smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, promising powerful performance, improved battery efficiency, and ultra-fast 5G connectivity. Whether it's gaming or everyday tasks, the Realme P3 5G is capable of handling everything with ease.

Realme has also equipped the Realme P3 with a 6050mm sq aerospace-grade VC system to maintain peak performance during intense gaming sessions. Plus, the inclusion of GT Boost gaming features ensures gamers experience optimal speed, stability, and control during matches.

The brand claims that the massive 6,000mAh battery offers up to 8.5 hours of BGMI gameplay. While I haven't yet pushed it to that limit, I'll dive deeper into its gaming performance and features in my full review. However, during my limited testing, I didn't experience any noticeable lag or overheating.

Social media scrolling, including watching Reels, felt exceptionally smooth, thanks to its 120Hz AMOLED display. The phone also comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage, with the option to expand the RAM virtually up to 18GB for multitasking.

Another impressive feature is its IP69 rating, which is rare at this price point. During Holi, I used the phone without any external protection, and it handled water splashes effortlessly without any issues.

As noted, the Realme P3 5G packs a massive 6,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support, which is capable of charging from 15 per cent to 90 per cent in just one hour. After this, I watched a two-hour movie, and the battery level dropped to 60 per cent.

I'll give a detailed verdict on its gaming performance and battery life in the full review, which will be out soon.

Realme P3 5G First Impressions Review: The Bad

On the software front, the Realme P3 5G runs on Android 15 with Realme UI 6.0. Although the company hasn't made any promises about future software updates, my initial experience with the software has been relatively clean and smooth. However, it does come with some pre-installed apps, some of which cannot be removed.

One of the drawbacks of the Realme P3 5G is it doesn't include a dedicated ultra-wide lens, which is disappointing at this price point. While the 50MP main camera performs well and captures good photos in daylight, it struggles to click detailed shots in low-light conditions. I'll dive deeper into its camera performance in the full review.

Realme P3 5G First Impressions Review: The X-Factor

If you're seeking an affordable gaming smartphone with a good display and impressive battery life, the Realme P3 5G is a solid choice. Its lightweight design also offers a comfortable handling experience. However, if you're looking for a device with long-term usage and better camera features, options like the Galaxy M16 5G and Moto G85 could be better alternatives. Stay tuned for the full review, where I'll dive deeper into its features.
