Samsung Galaxy Note 8 reportedly starts receiving Android Oreo update
While Samsung is yet to confirm the roll out, some users in France seem to have got the update.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is now receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update, reports SamMobile. While the company is yet to confirm the roll out, some users in France seem to have got the update. Notably, it is not a beta update, but a stable version. Carrying the firmware version N950FXXU3CRC1, the update also includes the Android security patch for March.
Further, the custom UI on Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be upgraded to Samsung Experience 9.0 with the arrival of Oreo. At the moment, only limited users are receiving the update. That said, a wider rollout is expected in near future. Hopefully, South Korean tech giant will soon shed light on this matter.
In any case, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 users should receive a notification for the update. They can alternatively check for the update manually by going to the Settings>About Phone> System Updates. Since it is said to be a firmware update, users should back up all the date before installing the new OS.
Also, users should have at least 50 percent battery or more and they should carry out the installation process over a Wi-Fi network. Using mobile network may cost additional data charges.
With this update, Galaxy Note 8 users will be able to experience Oreo hands-on and its features like picture-in-picture, Smart Text Selection, Notification Dots, Android Instant Apps, Google Play Protect, improved booting time, extended battery life and a whole lot more.
As stated, the update also comes with Samsung Experience 9.0, which brings new launcher shortcuts, colored media notifications, improvements to biometric functions, improvements to Samsung keyboard, Dual Messenger, and a revamped About Menu in Settings.
Samsung is often criticized for not updating its devices on time. The Galaxy Note 8 is reportedly receiving the Oreo update when the Android P's first developer preview is out. Android Oreo rollout for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ also began recently, in February. Seems like it's high time the company starts sending out software updates for its devices regularly.
