If I have one honest note from my time with it, it is that I would have loved some more flavour in the design language itself. It is beautiful, but it is familiar, and a phone built explicitly for self-expression could afford to take a bigger visual swing.

Perhaps that is the point though. When your baseline is already the best-looking flip phone in the market, restraint is a luxury you can afford.

The FlexWindow Is The Real Story

The real makeover lives on the front. The 4.1-inch FlexWindow is the largest cover screen the Flip has carried, and Samsung has rebuilt it as what it calls an AI-native interface rather than a glorified notification tray.

Apps, insights and actions now live directly on the cover screen. Now Brief sits on the FlexWindow home, surfacing timely information and next steps through the day. Gemini-powered automation across more than 40 apps and services can be triggered straight from the cover through the side key or a voice request, letting you finish small tasks without ever opening the phone.

Full disclosure, my session did not allow time to properly test these AI experiences, so my read on them is strictly on paper for now. I will reserve judgement on how natural they feel until the full review.

But the direction is unquestionably right. The cover screen has always been the Flip's defining feature, and treating it as the phone's brain rather than a widget shelf is exactly the evolution this format has been waiting for. For the buyer who wants to check, reply and move on without doomscrolling, this could quietly become the healthiest phone habit money can buy.
