Vivo T3 5G Review in Five Minutes: Vivo’s Most Competitive Sub-20K Smartphone Yet
India's sub-20K smartphone market is getting a whole lot more competitive. We've already seen brands like iQOO, Realme, Lava, Redmi, and Poco all make their mark in the sub-20K smartphone segment this year.
And now, it is Vivo's turn! The Vivo T3 5G succeeds last year's Vivo T2 5G and currently vies for the title of best phone under Rs 20,000 in India. While our Vivo T3 5G hands-on review won't be able to answer that question, it will tell you if Vivo our indeed on the right path. So without any further delays, let's dive into our Vivo T3 5G first impressions.

Vivo T3 5G: Design, Build Quality
The Vivo T3 5G replaces the waterdrop notch from the T2 5G with a more modern punch-hole camera cutout. The Vivo T3 5G is offered in Cosmic Blue and Crystal Flake color options, ours came in the latter. The Crystal Flake variant has a crystal textured back panel, which reveals unique diamond patterns.
The panel features a reflective surface which gives it a stylish look. The rear panel boasts a matte finish, which is quite resistant to fingerprints and smudges, although the glossy camera island is more prone to smudges. Unlike the more premium Vivo V30 5G, the T3 5G boasts a flat design, while the camera island is integrated into the back panel.

The Vivo T3 5G boasts a slim and light build, measuring 7.95mm thick and weighing 188 grams. Vivo's latest T series phone is quite comfortable to use with one hand and comfortable to grip. In terms of protection, the Vivo T3 5G boasts a plastic back and frame, while there is glass protection on the front.
For added convenience, Vivo also brings an IP54 rating for resistance to dust and splashes of water. The phone also has the standard button placement, with the power and volume buttons to the right and USB Type-C port, SIM tray, and speaker grille on the bottom. The Vivo T3 5G may not have the elaborate any elaborate curvature, but it does have a stylish back panel and is quite comfortable to use.
Vivo T3 5G: Cameras
On the back of the Vivo T3 5G sits dual rear cameras. First is a 50 MP primary Sony IMX882 sensor paired with OIS and an f/1.79 aperture and a 2 MP bokeh lens with an f/2.4 aperture. The Vivo T3 5G also boasts a flicker sensor. Up front, the Vivo T3 5G opts for a 16 MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

The shots taken in daylight were excellent for the most part, with the phone able to capture a ton of detail and accurate colors. The images were more on the contrasty side with a bit of over sharpening, but dynamic range was good. The Vivo T3 5G also allows you to change filters to Vibrant, Texture, or Natural, similar to what we've seen on the Vivo X100 Pro (Review).
At night, the main camera gets respectable shots with night mode further enhancing quality. Night mode does get rid of noise and brightens up the image and requires very little ambient light to get passable results. We still have to put the Vivo T3's cameras through their paces, but our first impressions are overwhelmingly positive. Check out a few camera samples.

The Vivo T3 5G can record 4K video at 30fps or 1080p video at up to 60fps. There's also a super-steady mode but it limits video recording to 1080p at 30fps. Video recording on the front camera is also limited to 1080p at 30fps. Stay tuned for our Vivo T3 5G review for a full breakdown of camera performance.
Vivo T3 5G: Display, Audio
The Vivo T3 5G is equipped with a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with slim bezels, offering an impressive 91.9% screen-to-body ratio. The screen boasts an impressive peak brightness of 1,800 nits, although it does struggle a little under the direct sunlight in the afternoon.
The panel also features a 120Hz refresh rate that can be set to auto or manually switched between 60Hz or 120Hz. The screen is also SGS Low Blue Light Eye Care certified to help reduce the harmful effects of blue light. Moreover, watching content on the display was quite good for a wide field of view and vibrant color reproduction.

On the audio front, the Vivo T3 5G packs dual stereo speakers with Hi-Res Audio Wired and Wireless Certification. Despite the 200% 'Ultra Large Volume' mode, the speakers don't get too loud. For a mid-range smartphone, audio quality is decent with minimal distortion even at maximum volume. The vibrant OLED panel, 120Hz refresh rate, and good clear speakers, makes the Vivo T3 5G a solid phone for entertainment.
Vivo T3 5G: Performance, Software, Battery
The Vivo T3 5G gets a significant bump in performance over its predecessor with the incorporation of the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC based on TSMC's 2nd Gen 4 nm process. The chip is paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. In terms of benchmarks, Vivo claims the T3 5G exceeded an overall score of 734,000 in AnTuTu, which is more or less accurate.

In Geekbench 6, the Vivo T3 5G managed a single-core score of 1153 points and a multi-core score of 2656 points. We also tested a few titles on high graphics on the Vivo T3 5G, which ran smoothly without any glitches. In our brief experience with the Vivo T3 5G, it is safe to say that the phone exceeded our expectations, offering excellent day-to-day and gaming performance.
The Vivo T3 5G packs a 5,000 mAh battery that is more than sufficient to last an entire day. The battery supports 44W fast charging with a compatible adapter in the box. The Vivo T3 5G features a Super Battery Saver mode, offering an extended standby time. The overall battery life on the Vivo T3 5G is pretty solid and will easily pass the 'all-day' test.

In terms of software, the Vivo T3 5G runs Android 14-based Funtouch OS 14. The Vivo T3 5G comes with an all-new Interstellar AOD Wallpaper collection. It also allows you to personalize notification light effects.
Other features of Funtouch OS include Small Window, Split-screen, Mini Window, and Operation gestures. Vivo promises two major Android OS updates and three years of regular security updates with the T3 5G.

The Vivo T3 5G price in India starts from Rs 19,999 for the 8GB/128GB model, while the 8GB/256GB configuration costs Rs 21,999. However, Vivo is offering SBI, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank credit and debit card holders an instant discount of Rs 2,000 on the Vivo T3 5G. Customers can purchase the Vivo T3 5G on Flipkart and through Vivo's official website.
Vivo T3 5G Hands-on Review: Conclusion

In our brief experience with the Vivo T3 5G, the phone feels like a solid upgrade over its predecessor. Vivo has done an excellent job with the display, design, battery, charging support, and cameras on the T3 5G. The choice to go with the one formidable camera was also the right move as it does a stellar job for the price.
Sure, the Vivo T3 5G shares a lot of specifications with the iQOO Z9 5G, but the former does feature a better design and Vivo phones have generally had an advantage in the camera department. Despite only using the Vivo T3 5G for a few days, we feel it has what it takes to earn an easy recommendation and might just be one of the best smartphones under Rs 20,000 in India.
