Samsung Confirms Android 5.0 Lollipop Update For Galaxy Note 2


Samsung Galaxy Note 2 might be an old device but the phone still looks good. That could probably be the reason why the device is now getting Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

Samsung has finally confirmed that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update will arrive on the Galaxy Note 2. The information comes via Samsung Poland (via SamMobile), though the user handling the company's Twitter account did not share any details on the timings. This likely means that the roll out is several days away at best.

In other words, an Android 5.0 Lollipop release for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is just around the corner. The confirmation is important because the Galaxy Note 2 is one of the bestselling smartphone.

It's still not clear if this will be the last update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Google recommends just 18 months of software support though Samsung typically offers 24 months of support for its flagship devices. So, the Note 2, which recently turned two, could be the oldest Samsung smartphone to get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

The Galaxy Note 2, which is still available in the Indian market, comes with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display. It is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. The high-end device has a 3100mAh battery and has 16GB internal storage expandable up to 64 GB via microSD card.

The Note 2 also features an 8-megapixel rear facing camera and a 1.9-megapixel front camera. Like its predecessor, the 5.5-inch phablet comes with the S-Pen stylus for taking notes on the device. Other connectivity options include an LTE connectivity, 3G and Wi-Fi.

Although an old handset, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 can be purchased upwards of Rs. 27,000 in India. Looks like the demand for the Galaxy Note 2 phablet still going strong in the country.
