Rumors of Samsung coming up with a metal clad version of the Galaxy S5 have been around for months. Though, Samsung has not yet announced details of when the Galaxy Alpha, a speculated marketing name, will be unveiled. But if rumors have anything to go by, the Galaxy Alpha could be unveiled in the coming months.
Luckily, new images have surfaced showing off the phone's design and form factor ahead of global debut. Reports in the past have suggested that the Galaxy Alpha may sport a metal chassis.
While the name of the device remains a mystery, new sources are trying to convince that the phone will sport a slim profile, with brushed metal edges. This may sound like the iPhone; the handset's rear-back panel is still a mystery. Again, it is rather tough to judge the device on the basis of few alleged images.
This is for the first time the Galaxy Alpha has leaked. New purported image of the Galaxy Alpha show a while colored device that seems to be a mash up of the original Galaxy S5 and the iPhone range. The overall aesthetics has been lifted from the iPhone 5S, though dimpled back cover will remind you of Samsung's very own Galaxy S5.
The Galaxy Alpha is said to go official on August 14. Samsung has already promised that there's a new handset incoming in the next-6 months featuring new materials, though the company hasn't name the device yet. The Galaxy Alpha may feature a 4.8-inch 720p HD display, an Octa-Core processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board storage and a 12MP rear-facing camera, among others.
Meanwhile, it would be interesting to read about top 5 trending rumors you should know about the Galaxy Alpha.aka Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime. Take a deep look into sliders below.
Samsung Galaxy Alpha – Metal Crafted Chassis
Originally the device was supposed to be made out of metal. Later SamMobile published few new image of the purported handset sporting metal frame around the edges but the rear-back cover is still made out of plastic. We think that Samsung's Galaxy Alpha will feature a similar looking plastic-made rear cover( remember- Galaxy S5 ?), instead of full metal chassis.
Samsung Galaxy Alpha – Display
Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Alpha may not sport a QHD display, as speculated previously. In fact, a latest report by the Korean Herald apparently claims the new device might come with a 4.7-inch display. Moreover, an unnamed report claiming that the Galaxy Alpha to feature a 4.8-inch 720p HD display, instead of a FHD screen.
In our opinion, the Galaxy Alpha could be a mid-range device, based on the phone's display resolution. What do you think about the Galaxy Alpha ?
Samsung Galaxy Alpha – Processing Speed and OS
The original Galaxy S5 sports a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, but the Galaxy Alpha may feature an Octa-Core CPU. SamMobile is reporting that the Alpha might come with the new Exynos 5433 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage. Unfortunately, the phone may not come with an option to expand internal memory via a microSD card slot. The Galaxy Alpha could run on the latest Android 4.4.3 Kitkat mobile OS.
Since the Galaxy S5 wasn't a huge hit, we think that Samsung might sell the Galaxy Alpha at a competitive price in order to give tough chance to popular players such as Gionee, Oppo, Xiaomi, among others.
Samsung Galaxy Alpha – Camera and other Specs
In the imaging department, the Galaxy Alpha should feature a 12MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing shooter. The rumored phone also expected to feature the heart rate monitor on the back and a fingerprint sensor under the home key.
Samsung Galaxy Alpha – Release Date
We already know the Galaxy Alpha is coming shortly. However, there's hardly any concrete info available as far as its release date is concerned. Earlier the Galaxy Alpha was tipped to launch in June 2014. Then not long ago an unconfirmed report pegged the release date for September. Reportedly Samsung is expected to launch the device on August 13.
