A lot has been said and written about Samsung Gear. It is not confirmed whether the smart watch would be powered by Android or Tizen OS.
On July 29, Samsung filed a trademark application under "International Class 009 ". It means the device should be a wearable piece of technology in the form of a wristwatch, wrist band or bangle.
"Wearable digital electronic devices in the form of a wristwatch, wrist band or bangle capable of providing access to the Internet and for sending and receiving phone calls, electronic mails and messages; wearable electronic handheld devices in the form of a wristwatch, wrist band or bangle for the wireless receipt, storage and/or transmission of data and messages and for keeping track of or managing personal information; smart phones; tablet computers; portable computers"
According to a media report, the Samsung Germany has received "Gear "prototype for testing the firmware. Indeed Germany is set to host IFA Berlin tech show, and one could expect Samsung to officially unveil its smart watch. Another theory says If Samsung is going with Galaxy brand name; it is crystal clear that the watch would be running on Android OS. SM-V700 is said to be the model number associated with Samsung smart watch.
Earlier this year, Samsung mobile VP Lee Young Hee confirmed to Bloomberg that, yes Samsung is making a smart watch.
"We've been preparing the watch product for so long [...] We are working very hard to get ready for it. We are preparing products for the future, and the watch is definitely one of them".
