Japanese titan Sony has already proved its metabolism with number of successful high-end waterproof handsets. Now it's time for Samsung to succeed in the same direction by launching rugged edition of popular Galaxy smartphones. Recently, Samsung tried its hands by launching Galaxy S4 Active.
It is largely believed that sales are fairly stable and par with Samsung's estimates. Yet again the South Korean giant is ready to add not only one but two rugged handsets in the near future. According to South Korea's ET news, Samsung is in advance stages of launching Galaxy Note 3 Active. The device could hit market next month.
Moreover, sources close to the ET news also speculates that the makers behind Galaxy S4 are also working on a possible waterproof and dust-resistant variant of forthcoming Galaxy S5. The details regarding Galaxy S5 Active are pretty much nonexistent at hour.
If the above mentioned gossip is true, then get ready to see a normal and rugged /Active version of popular high-end Samsung handsets. On the other hand Sony's approach is crystal clear. The company makes a single piece of high-end hardware with waterproof and dusts-resistant capabilities added to differentiate it from competitors.
Sony always made a point to highlight ruggedness of the device via TVC and print /online commercials. Sony made rugged devices appear to have a simple design and non-bulky look which might be the reason why devices like Xperia Z accepted well.
All thanks to the Xperia A (also known as Xperia ZR); Sony is once again a popular smartphone vendor in the Japanese market. Definitely, Samsung has lot to learn from Sony, if the South Korean vendor is eager to popularize rugged handsets.
