Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus & Grand Duos First Images Leak: Pegged for 2013 Release
Back in 2011, Samsung released Galaxy S2 - its flagship smartphone and the best selling handset of the year. Now, there are rumors circulating on the web claiming that a mid-range variant of Galaxy S2 will be released soon.
A recent Blog Of Mobile report, has leaked the first images of Galaxy S2 Plus, thereby hinting that the handset could be launched in near future. The leaked image makes it clear that the upcoming handset has many similarities to the original Galaxy S2, which was released in 2011.
Another report from the same source has revealed first images of Galaxy Grand Dous codenamed Baffin, which was spotted with a 5 inch display with a lower 800 x 480 pixel resolution, quad-core Samsung Exynos 4412 processor as in Galaxy S3, Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean platform, NFC, 3G, LTE and 2,100 mAh battery.
Prior to the launch of Galaxy S3 Mini, an earlier report claimed that Samsung is prepping Galaxy S3 Mini and Galaxy S2 Plus and that these handset will be released into the markets by the end of 2012. However, Galaxy S3 Mini is available in India for a price of Rs 26,999.
Further, a more recent report suggested that the South Korean tech giant is all set to unveil Galaxy S2 Plus in the first quarter of 2013 in a couple of color variants - Dark Blue and Chic White respectively. Also, the upcoming handset will be available only in 8GB internal storage option and run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS along with Nature NX interface.
Moreover, the report claimed that the Chic White Galaxy S2 Plus will be released in the third week of the next year and the Dark Blue variant of the same will be released a couple of weeks later.
Going by earlier reports, Galaxy S2 Plus is rumored to have a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 1.2GHz dual core Cortex A9 processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 1GB RAM and 16GB/32GB internal memory along with a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and a 1,650 mAh Li-ion battery.
Further, Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082 is rumored to pack a 4.5 inch screen with 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 8MP rear camera, 2MP camera, dual SIM support and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Analysts assume that Galaxy S2 Plus and Grand Duos will be priced at between $250 to $350 (approx. Rs 14,000 to Rs 20,000) and between 800,000 won to 100,000 won (approx. Rs 41,000 to Rs 51,000).
