Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini vs Gionee Elife E6: Which One Should You Buy?

Design

The Galaxy S4 Mini is all made of cheap polycarbonate plastic and it would be tough for Samsung to convince at first sight. On the other hand, the Gionee Elife E6 is also made up of unibody plastic, but the makers have better treatment in terms of look and build quality.

The Galaxy S4 Mini has forgettable design, whereas the Elife E6 first impressions will last for a longer time. The Elife E6 measures 7.9mm in terms of thickness and weighs 128 grams, whereas the Galaxy S4 Mini weighs 108 grams and measures 8.9mm. However, the Elife E6 is comfortable to hold despite a massive 5-inch FHD display.

Processor Power and Other Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini features a 1.7GHz dual-core processor with Krait 300GPU, 1.5GB RAM and 8GB of internal memory. These days most of the latest handsets priced above Rs. 20,000 features powerful quad-core processor and at least 16GB of internal memory.

The Gionee Elife E6 uses a 1.5GHz quad-core processor powered by Mediatek MT6589T chipset coupled with 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory. The 32GB of internal memory is non-expandable via a microSD card slot, which is a big drawback. While, the Galaxy S4 Mini allows you to easily expand the internal memory up to 64GB via a microSD card slot.

OS and UI

The Galaxy S4 Mini runs the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. In the coming days, Samsung has promised to update the Galaxy S4 Mini to the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Samsung also uses its own UI or TouchWiz on the top of Android with little modifications. The South Korean giant also gives you can experience its own native apps that are exclusive to high-end Galaxy series. Some of the prominent apps include: S Health, S Translator, WatchOne, among others.

Gionee Elife E6 runs the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with custom ROM on the top of it. Amigo is a Proprietary OS based on Android. It's a home backed OS, thus, kills the standard Android UI. Sometime the whole experience gets muddled into confusion, so it's difficult to trust Amigo.

Camera

When you compare the two camera phone, the Gionee Elife E6 offers betters camera UI and slightly better pictures in compared to Galaxy S4 Mini. The Elife E6 incorporates a 13MP rear-facing camera with Auto Focus and LED Flash. There's a 5MP front-facing camera. Galaxy S4 Mini comes with an 8MP rear-facing camera with Auto Focus, LED Flash and a 1.9MP front -facing camera. Both the devices can shoot videos in Full HD (1080p FHD) format. Neither of the cameras have built-in Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

Battery

Galaxy S4 Mini has a 1900mAh battery with 12 hours of talk time; Gionee Elife E6 features a 2000mAh battery fitted inside with an undisclosed battery backup time.

Dual SIM

Galaxy S4 Mini comes with dual-SIM connectivity which allows a user to use more than one SIM card. The Gionee Elife E6 lost to Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, as the former handset doesn't support Dual SIM.

Verdict

Well, both the smartphones have their own pros and cons. While, Gionee Elife E6 has a better display, camera shooter, battery specs and internal memory storage. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S4 mini wins over with NFC, lightweight body and inclusion of Samsung S features. Also, Gionee Elife E6 supports a MicroSIM, while S4 mini is compatible with Normal SIMs as well.

Coming on the price factor, when compared to Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, the Elife E6 wins over with a more affordable price tag.
