Days after the launch of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in India, Samsung has cut the price of its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, alongside the LTE-variant of the device.
The Galaxy S5 now costs Rs. 37,500, while the Galaxy S5 LTE is available for Rs. 40,300. Both handsets are available at discounted priced on the company's official store. Anyone who bought these handsets at launch would have paid Rs. 51,500 and Rs. 53,448, respectively.
The latest price cut shows that the company is stepping up its competitiveness in the high-end of the smartphone market. The price cut could a direct attack against its rivals in the industry. As of now, it is unclear whether the current price cuts for the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S5 LTE have any relation to the festive period, or are permanent.
Samsung Galaxy S5 - Highlighted Specifications
The Galaxy S5 comes with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display offering a Full HD resolution and churns out the pixel density of 432 ppi. It is powered by Octa Core Processor (Quad 1.9GHz + Quad 1.3GHz) + XMM6360 coupled with 2GB of RAM and runs on Android KitKat 4.4.2 OS with the layer of the upgraded version of the TouchWiz UI including a new notification bar. The device uses (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac) 2x2 MIMO, USB3.0, BT 4.0(LE) connectivity options.
The IP67 certified handset, as you are already aware, comes powered by a 2,800mAh battery. The device offers 16GB of on-board storage and a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).
Samsung Galaxy S5-LTE - Highlighted Specifications
The LTE (SM-G900I) variant of the Galaxy S5 is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and similar set of specifications and features to be precise. The 4G LTE-enabled Galaxy S5 sports a 5.1-inch FHD display, 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, 16MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP front-facing shooter and more. The handset is powered by Android 4.4.2 Kitkat, and has a large 2800mAh battery inside.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Now Cheaper To Own
At Rs. 37,500, the Galaxy S5 is significantly cheaper than the Apple iPhone 6, which starts upwards of Rs. 53,500. The price tag of the Sony Xperia Z3 is a whooping Rs. 13,500 more than that of the Samsung Galaxy S5. The Samsung Galaxy S5 was originally introduced in the country in April this year. The 4G LTE version of the Galaxy S5 has a Qualcomm-powered processor.
