Coming up with the mini variant of the flagship smartphone has become somewhat like a trend off late. And if the devices can get as big as 6 inches, the mini variant actually does make a lot of sense. Now, what we have today with us is the news which is related to the similar mini variant of the newly announced Galaxy S5 smartphone from Samsung. The device is yet to make it to the physical retail shelves and the rumors of the mini model is already taking the upper hand in the tech community.

Moreover, SamMobile has come up with a specs sheet of the device already and according to them, Samsung Galaxy S5 mini should be IP67 certified, just like the original model, which will provide it with dust and water protection.

The Galaxy S5 Mini will be sporting a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that should support HD (720p) resolution.

Furthermore, Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box. Although the folks over at SamMobile haven't spoken about the chipset inside the Galaxy S5, they suggest the smartphone might be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

The smartphone is said to pack an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel secondary camera for video calls.

Last but not least, the Galaxy S5 mini is rumored to feature 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, IR blaster and a 2100 mAh battery. Although no details on the phone's availability has been leaked, previous rumor suggested the Galaxy S5 mini might arrive sometime in May.

Apart from that there's no info on whether it will sport a heart rate and fingerprint sensor as of now and nor the pricing and availability of the device has been confirmed.
