At MWC 2014, Sony came out with one of the sizzling flagship by the company so far - Xperia Z2. The waterproof smartphone has got to offer one of the best displays, sound, camera and camcorder experience but till now it has not hit the market shelves globally. However, it looks like you don't have to wait any more.

Earlier today, a tweet from DooMLoRD claimed that the device will get launched in the country by mid-May. He further claimed, the Xperia Z2 will be launched on May 15, and the handset will become available for purchase a week later.

Time and again, reportedly, the Sony Xperia Z2 was being pushed back due to problems in sourcing components. Earlier this month, it was Sony Hong Kong which announced that the Xperia Z2 would arrive in June 2014.

At the same time, some UK retailers recently claimed that the device would hit retail shelves by next month.
Meanwhile, recently a report from DigiTimes also indicated that the delayed launch of the Xperia Z2 is far from over, and the component shortage could mean the device is delayed up to 7 months, especially in markets , such as the US, the UK and Hong Kong.

The delayed launch of the Xperia Z2 has become a major issue for the company, as Sony could lose market share to Samsung and HTC if it doesn't bring the device sooner into worldwide market. Hence, this report has come as a relief for many Sony fans in the market.

Sony recently eclipsed Apple to become India's 2nd largest smartphone marker, commanding 9.1% value share in the Indian smartphone market in the October-December quarter of 2013 against Apple's 7% share.

All depends upon what will be the price of Sony Xperia Z2 in the market? Samsung - Sony's arch rival in the Indian handset market, has already launched the Galaxy S5 at Rs. 51,500. Samsung has been making a lot of noise about its most premium handset by spending millions on marketing and advertising. Also, Samsung is expected to sell the S5 in as many as 150 countries by May 1.

On the other hand, struggling mobile makerHTC is making constant efforts to promote its HTC One (M8) handset in India. Priced at Rs. 49,990, the HTC One (M8) will go on sale in India on May 7.

Hence, Sony should launch the Xperia Z2 handset in Indian market at the earliest at a price of around Rs 45,000- Rs 48,000.

As this time around the competition is rather tough due to the fact that both Indian as well as Chinese players have started coming up with high-end phones in Indian market, which wasn't the case back in 2013.

Furthermore, some esteemed Chinese players such as Gionee and Oppo are currently testing Indian market by selling big ticket phones at mid-range price. So to secure the vital position in this cut throat competition, Sony will have to come up with an excellent price strategy for Xperia Z2. Share your opinion in the comments section below.
