The Indian mobile industry is moving at a fast pace and both domestic and international players are making forays in to the country seeing the vast potential it holds for their handsets. The main section or area of interest is the economy and budget category of phones. This segment is where majority of the Indian buyers focus their attention to.
Even though there is a rise in the upper class population of India, majority of the nation"s economy is contributed by the middle class. So manufacturers are working by hook or by crook to churn out mobiles that will fit into their budgets.
However slashing down the prices does not mean that he features and functionalities offered by the phone should go down.
The economy market is expected to grow at a staggering rate and it is mainly the domestic players that are now ruling the market. The foreign players are catching up well though. Today we focus our attention to new and upcoming entrants in the economy category from two of the World"s most renowned mobile handset manufacturers LG and Samsung. The models under the scanner today are LG Attune and Samsung Replenish.
LG Attune is a simple and basic phone with quite a lot of features whereas Samsung Replenish is a slightly higher end model. Samsung Replenish feature is that it is a classy touch and type phone with a 2.8 inch TFT touch screen based display in addition to a physical QWERTY keypad. LG attune on the other hand has a 2.8 inches display with a sliding physical QWERTY keypad. On the looks department it is definitely the Replenish that takes home the glory.
The Samsung Replenish most important feature is it is powered by Android Froyo OS and is thus expected to be more charge efficient than the Proprietary OS powered LG Attune.
Both the phones will not disappoint any of its users when it comes to the multimedia specifications. Both the models provide support for recording and playback of various formats of files in both audio and video category. They also provide an FM Radio and Universal headphone jack connectivity.
The camera on both the phones is average with Replenish providing a 2 Mega Pixel camera as compared to the 1.3 Mega Pixel of LG Attune. On the connectivity side both of them offer Bluetooth and GPRS internet connectivity and have support for USB PC Sync.
Pricing is where the phones may have a real battle. LG Attune will cost up to Rs 4000 and the price of the Replenish is still unknown. If it is also priced in this region then Samsung Replenish features make it a better choice.
