Samsung SGH-I187: Mid Range Windows Phone Smartphone Reportedly Coming Soon

Until now, Nokia is recognized as a true Windows Phone maker and on the other hand upliftment of Android goes to Samsung. These two device makers have different approach to smartphones.

Samsung hasn't done well, when it comes to Windows Phone 8 devices but the makers behind famed Galaxy S series are equally passionate about Windows as a platform.

The other day, when the news broke that HTC was finding difficult to make new WP8 devices. Now a new rumor has surfaced on the internet in respect to an unannounced WP8 handset made by Samsung.

Samsung SGH-I187: Mid Range WP8 Smartphone In Works

According to latest listing on GFXBench( via The DroidGuy), Samsung is said to be making a mid-range Windows powered smartphone. Codenamed SGH-I187, the model no is in sync with other handsets appeared under Ativ brand.

The phone is said to have a 720p HD display. The processor could be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 with Adreno 305 GPU. Looking at the rumored specifications, the device will likely to be in the league of Samsung Ativ V, if not great.

If you are thinking that this above mentioned device would be a high-end device, then you are wrong. In the benchmark results, it is clearly mentioned that Samsung I187 performed slightly lower than Nokia Lumia 920.

Rumors say that Microsoft is planning to roll out GDR 3 update later this year. With the new update, tech vendors like Nokia and Samsung will finally announce Full HD display ducked handsets with Quad -core processors. As of now, it is impossible to see any new smartphone powered by WP8 with a 6-inch display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

Well, Nokia could announce one such device in the month of September. It is said that the Finnish giant is waiting for Microsoft to announce GDR3 update. Nokia's first phablet device was recently spotted with giant 6-inch Full HD 1080p display alongside Snapdragon 800 processor. Reportedly, HTC is planning a Windows version of HTC One.
